I got cheap childcare!...

...and it's not paid for by the government. I sometimes feel like I am taking advantage or like I am a deadbeat because i receive government aid. Well, the school I go to offers cheap childcare depending on your financial aid package. So, if you have one kid and you qualified for the full Pell Grant then childcare is $0 for a semester. With 2 kids it is $152. $152 for 15 weeks of childcare...for 2 kids! That's just crazy! I mean you can't pay a 12 year old that little to watch your kids. Not only that, it is an actual daycare "chain". I don't know if that is the word for it, but there are a bunch of them around.
I used to be against daycare for my kids, but DS is way behind on his speech (about to turn 2 and not saying 2 words). He needs that interaction with other kids. So it will be good. Not only that, I need to finish school so that I can quit feeling like a deadbeat and actually make a decent living and life for me and my family.
I was just so excited when I called the school to talk to them about childcare for summer school and how I might not be able to take summer classes because of this issue. They were like "Oh we have a deal with Sunshine House down the road, you just need to come fill out the packet for each of your kids!" i love my school! I strongly suggest that any SAHM out there who wants to go back to school look into an Adult Education program at a local college. They are so much more helpful this time around than they were when I entered school as an 18 year old freshman. I dropped out of school at 21 during my senior year because I was pregnant. I have my whole life been a quitter, so I know that if I can do it anyone can do it. i am on track to graduate fall of 2009!
