Reality check

I had one of those days where the list of "real" stuff that I needed to get was too long to ignore anymore. So out I went armed with coupons and my list in hand. On a good note, I saved 81% off of my grocery list. On a bad note, I saved $0.00 on my trip to Wallyworld. Ha! Yeah you read that right, $0.00! Realistically though, I bought a few food items, but the rest were non-food. Coupon-wise, could I have saved any money there? Probably, but the one coupon that I could use apparently expired yesterday and the cashier told me so. Nice. Whatever. I am entitled to a slip up here and there.
As for the rest of my stuff, sure, if I had bought the items that had coupons for them. But you know what? Sometimes the store brand/generic is the cheaper item overall even after comparing prices with/without coupon usage. So yeah, it may look like I didn't save any money at Wallyworld, but I actually did because I bought stuff that is next to impossible to get a decent price for otherwise. So I still did good in my book.
