Day 10 - 1/10/09

Food prices are kicking my butt. I'm having trouble keeping under $25 a week. I bought 9 packs of Electrasol, produce, eggs, soda, bread, and some other misc deals and the total was still $40. Potatoes are $4 a bag - that kills me. I suppose if I look it at from a total view of staying under $100 a week for food and gas I'm definitely successful. I guess that $25 budget I had a few years ago just isn't do-able anymore . If I hadn't done a little stockpiling I would have barely managed $27 or so, but I'm sure the heck not going to pass up almost a year's worth of Electrasol for under $10.
I'm going to have to get gas tomorrow. I don't think I can manage until Thursday on a quarter tank.
Good news is, DH will have loads of overtime until the end of the month, so more money for bills! I got a $72 excrow refund check in the mail today, and the water bill is $20 less this month, so that's almost another $100 of "found" money.
Spending to date:
Week 2
Gas $14.52
Groceries/Other: $40.43
Week 1 Total: $71.06
