Bye-bye Relaxing Weekend... 10/15/2006

Well...the baby brought our weekend to a screeching halt. We just got home from a 24 hour stay in the hospital.
He's had stomach flu since Wednesday, and the dr assured us on Thursday that everything would be fine within 24 hours. By Saturday morning, he was still unable to keep anything down and was still passing liquid stools. We went to the dr again, who said he was dehydrated and sent us directly (do not pass go, do not collect a change of clothes) to the hospital.
What a nightmare. I was a bawling wreck, and inserting the IV didn't make it much better. DH and I spent a miserable night in a recliner and a sorry excuse for a couch-bed. Thankfully however, Jared is much perkier today and able to keep down formula and pedialyte (YAY!!!!!!!!). We were discharged a few hours ago and I 've never been so grateful for the (improving) health of my child. I am off for a much needed shower and nap in a real bed...I am running on about 3 hours of sleep spent in the recliner of death.
Since this is supposed to be a savings blog, I will add that I managed to snag a paper this morning from the waiting room and check out the ads and coupons. Kiss your babies everyone...don't take them for granted!
