Intro and Explanation

Let's be honest. In Michigan, there ARE no jobs. I've been unemployed for a year since I quit working for a misogynistic bastage and a DM who didn't give a fart about my complaints. I've looked for the occasional work, started up my Etsy shop again ( for those inclined to look), and kept trying to think of ways to save money.

We're putting in a garden this year, and hopefully that will cut down on our food costs -- we can use a lot of the veggies we'll be growing to make our own food (including some condiments) instead of buying them in batches. A lot more time-consuming, but I think in the end we'll be glad we did it.

I also found this wonderful website :) I always jump headfirst into a new project, and it's been a little frustrating trying to wait the 48 hours until I have full access so I can post my haves and wants. I've already found someone that needs some things that I have, and I can't even PM her yet. Gah.

My husband and I live in a fairly rural area without many grocery stores. There's only ONE major store in our little town, and a couple in the town nearby. It's a bit frustrating to try and find the best place to go for deals, but we're managing.

Meijer: The place we shop at most often, in Adrian. The guy I talked to was a little dense, but he said they double coupons 'under fifty cents' and don't take competitor's coupons.

Jerry's Market: Actually in town. More of a local place, but nice.

Busch's: Actually in town. Being the only major chain in town, their prices are a bit higher than I'd like. I need to find out their coupon policy.

CVS: We have one in Adrian, right on the road toward Meijer. Before I start shopping there I want to have a bit better idea of how to work it so I can actually save a good amount there.

Walgreens: They're going to add one in town eventually (omfg, job?!?) but for now there's one in Adrian on the road toward Meijer. Don't know anything about their coupon/other savings policies yet.

Wal-mart: I hate Wal-mart. I will go to great lengths to avoid setting foot inside one. I don't like their business practices, their policies, or the way they treat their employees. I don't want to give them my money, period. I might go inside to fish up coupons, but I seriously doubt I would buy anything for ANY reason. I'd rather pay a bit extra to buy something elsewhere.

I've sorted the coupons I got in yesterday's paper. It's still a dilemma how I"m going to collect them every week besides just buying a paper -- I'd like to collect more than one set of ads, but there's no convenient place for me to yoink them Monday morning other than grabbing multiple adverts out of the papers underneath the one I'm grabbing on Sunday. My mother is going to try and clip more coupons, and when she sends me one of her frequent packages she'll send them off. Whatever I don't need, I can probably trade for.

That about covers it for now, I think.
