Weekend Update

What a jam-packed weekend we had! My mother and father drove down to visit on Friday morning. They took us to lunch at the new Fogo de Chao's that opened up in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore. What a neat experience! It's an upscale Brazilian buffet restaurant where they have a really nice salad bar (think the complete opposite of Golden Corral!) with all kinds of nice vegetables, salads, smoked meats and cheeses, relishes, etc. When you are finished with your salad plate everyone flips over the little coaster that they give you so that the roaming meat servers will start serving you meat. They have something like 15 different types of meats that are served by Gouchos. They shave the meat directly onto your plate from a spit that they carry around. You have to grab the meat with this little set of tongs that they give you so that you can catch it as it falls. It was such a fun experience and even though I'm not a big meat eater I did enjoy getting to try some different things! It's a little pricey but definitely worth every penny.
On Saturday we all took the metro into DC and visited the International Spy Museum. When you enter you go through "spy school" where you assume an alternate identity (your "legend") and you carry that identity on throughout the museum. At the end of the exhibits you can take a test on one of the computer stations to see if you remembered the details of your identity.
On Sunday we all went cosmic bowling together and had another fun-filled day. I felt bad because my parents ended up being so sore and achey afterwards. I sometimes forget that they are getting older and can't handle as much as they used to- they are aging well and so sometimes it slips my mind. Regardless, we enjoyed the experience. Hubby and I taught them how to play Canasta earlier in the weekend so the rest of the day was spent recuperating at the dining room table with a low-impact card game.
I am completely depleted of all energy and I have spent the day recuperating on the couch watching crappy (yet completely enjoyable) movies that I've had saved on the TiVo for weeks now! I don't even want to think about shopping. The inserts are still inside of the newspapers that I haven't even ventured to read yet.
Hopefully we'll find something fun (and cheap) to do this weekend so I don't go through activity withdrawl! Anything outdoors would be really nice (like an apple or wine festival) but I hope that it starts to chill down a little bit first so that my allergies go away. I'm so tired of the runny nose and sinus pressure. I do love Summer but the ongoing tease of Fall has reached the point of annoyance for me. I want to see all of those vibrant colors and feel a bit of chill in the air when I step outside. Maybe a bit of decorating would help ease it along? It might be enough to coax me off the couch!
