My $500 quest

***Ok, i changed the amount, just a tad, i think i might have set my goal way to high. Im sure I could have done it, but with me running a daycare 7 days a week. It's hard for me to find much time to sit down and sell stuff and do surveys. I of course need to find time to organize coupons, set up my shopping trips, go shopping, and also spend time with my family. So i figure $500 is a much more doable goal right now.***
I thought this would be something fun to do and write about. I am on a quest to make $1,500...now $500 by August 31st. I will do this by selling things weather it be actuals or coupons, doing rebates and I will be taking lots of surveys:)! I am going to take whatever I earn and put it towards the rest of my Emergency Fund and after thats to $1,000 I will put the rest it my 3-6 months savings fund. So....untill I have my money in my hand or in paypal/RME , I wont count it as earned. From there it goes into my savings account. So here it goes.

7/15/08- Balance $4.51 $495.49 to go!
(reqested cash out of paypal, can't seem to get it to transfer from paypal to savings account, so had to pay the dreaded $1.50 check processing fee)
7/17/08- Balance $8.36--$491.64 to go!
( I took $3.85 worth of pop bottles back to the store)
7/20/08-Balance $10.86--$489.14 to go!
Sold some coupons:)
7/21/08- Balance $23.86--$476.14 to go!
Sold more coupons
7/22/08- Balance $25.78--$474.22 to go!
Sold coupons
7/23/08-Balance $35.62--$464.38 to go!
Looks like my main source for getting the $1500 will be selling coupons:)
7/24/08-Balance $41.62--$458.38 to go!
7/25/08-Balance $56.60--$443.40 to go!
Sold coupons and got in some rebates.
7/26/08-Balance $62.59--$437.41 to go!
Rite aid rebate!
7/29/08-Balance $72.59--$427.41 to go!
Survey check
7/30/08-Balance $79.59--$420.41to go!

**ugh been sick & in the hospital**
7/31-8/14- Balance $108.51--$391.49
Sold coupons and got in rebates.

8/15-8/27-Balance $133.51--$336.49:(

thats great you are doin that! I want to do something similar i need at least 2,700 for a camera i need the one i had died on me the otherday...my hubbie says i killed it from using it too much lol
since i started w/ photos i have upgraded from a cameraphone then a few cameras after that was this one i thought was goin to last for a while..lol the price of cameras go down after a year and then its not worth it to fix it..so thats why i need to saving too so i can get the one i always dreamed of and it will ALWAYS be worth it to get it fixed and have warranty :)

I should start it..like not even think of the money just put it away once i get the rebate check or cash from a relative for products :)
    ty for the idea!!!

p.s. i know to some that seems a lot of money for just a camera but photos are my love and i would rather go w/ out glasses lol which i need to have a working camera :) well one that agrees w/ what i want to do w/ it. Well at least get enough money for an slr camera w/ at least 8mp

In New york we get chargred .05c on a bottle of pop/soda when we purchase it. So we are able to take out soda bottles back to the stores for a .05c refund. I think it helps with the recycling of the bottle. I'm not 100% sure, but its a way to make a little extra cash:) Your state doesnt have bottle deposits?

I don't think we have bottle deposits anymore here in Texas, but I seem to remember my parents returning bottles for deposit refunds when I was a kid. Now I'm probably dating myself - this was back in the mid 70's - they may still have this in Louisiana as well.

There are not too many states that do it anymore. On the pop bottle I have in hand it says
ME, VT, CT, MA, NY, DE, OR, IA, HI .05c
    MI .10C
CA CRV---Cash Refund Value? I'm not sure on that one.

Well, its been updated. I need to get my butt in gear. It seems that I will have to make around $35-$40 a day to get to my goal. I hope I can do it!

I was a kid too in the 60s and 70s and glass bottles...yes soda in glass bottles...were charged a deposit and most of the time you took your 8 pk of bottles back to the store, got your credit and bought more. Same with beer...whole cases (24) of bottles. It existed in WI until the 80s. I remember when DH rented diff places (b4 we were married) and the prev tennants had left bottles (student type housing...we're in a college town) and he would gladly take them to the store for the money. I think beer from our local brewery still comes in returnable bottles but not much others.

    Wow that brought back memories.
