I am a stay at home mom who does webdesigns and various other free lance work. I have two children (finally) after being married for nearly 17 years before we got pregnant. I am so blessed and so happy with my family. My toddler is in the potty training mode and of course she has an enormous amount of enthusiasm which compels her to spend at least 10 hours a day proving she can tinkle. And it's obvious that we can't ignore the plethora the accolades
that accompany each episode. I also have a 10 month old:hectic1: who is very much a momma's girl. She is a bulldozer, she wants her way, NOW. And she will go through you to get to the forbidden item. The words head strong come to mind.
My husband is a great guy - an he's a great support. He likes that I have decided to start couponing. We have always enjoyed the challenge of a good deal and now it seems we have the perfect chance to show how good good can get.
One of our trademark tactics is to go to the store just before the meat section closes (of course we're after a deal) and my husband will ask the person behind the counter how much for the "whatever meat of choice". See, we found out a long time ago the person there will have to pack it and put it away if it's not purchased. He's in a mood to make a deal.
About this time I walk by with him telling me the price. I scrunch my face and say that's too much and walk away. He will stay there like a dog with his tongue hanging out and ask the person what can they do to if he takes it all. :shrug7:Now they usually give him a great price, he'll get my attention and I come back so he can tell me the new price. Usually its a very substantial amount and I agree happily that is a good price and we'll take it all. Everyone's happy.
I used to feel sorry for the poor sap behind the counter but it only took a few times of playing the game before I realized how much we saved - and it let me do the shopping while my husband got to negotiate. He feels like the caveman
who hunted it, killed it and brought it home (at a discount). And I like having quality meats without the quality price tag.Total Comments 3

I like to negotiate with the butcher too. Ground beef is one of the easiest ones because they toss a lot of it at the end of the day. I can get them down to .89-95 cents a lb for the good 5% fat kind. I use the tactic..."if I buy 30 lbs of "whatever" what price can you give me" and its usually a good deal!Posted 11-05-2007 at 11:18:44 PM by queenofthehivemomof5
