Wow!

Wow! I am absolutely amazed at how much money you save, and how much great stuff you have! I currently subscribe to another web site that offers me a grocery list along with what coupons to use to save money, but your savings far surpass anything I've ever seen! I must be doing something wrong. I'm not sure how this website works or where you're getting your coupons. A quick overview of what you do and any suggestions would be wonderful!

Hi!

I LOVE ROULA AND RYAN - and I TOO heard you this morning. My jaw DROPPED when I heard you have a family of four and spend $800 a year! WOW! I thought my mother was crazy, she is a FANATIC about "price comparing" at Walmart - and she gets so angry at me to hear the money I spend weekly on food for me and my fiance (no kids = $125) AND we eat out! I think its virtually impossible to spend less! And I am an average sized woman (vegetarian nonetheless) but small figured who just LOVES grocery shopping. I look for sales, create a list and stick to it, but I cannot seem to spend less! I am 28 years old and new to cooking dinners for my fiance and its becoming overwhelming as to how much I have been spending!
I have since went on your website and have been sifting through this great information. But, I need help! I am angry I spend SO much money on food and STILL eat out because "there is nothing to eat at home".
You're not crazy - I AM! LOL!
Great Job!

I hardly ever shop at Wal-mart, just because they don't double or triple coupons...but if I can get a better deal there I will and bring along my ads to price match.

My favorite store to shop at is Kroger...they are the most coupon friendly and unlike Randalls will double or triple 3 like coupons...and when you have up to 50 of the same coupon it makes a difference, lol

you should also check out our sister site organic grocery deals cause they have the inside info on stuff like that too.

I think it it fabulous! If I can cut my $400 mth grocery bill in half, I would be beside myself with joy! I love, love a good bargain and I have never considered that I could save so much on food.

I have no Idea where to begin, I heard you on the radio and I want to learn. Can you point me in the right direction? How do I get started? What does OOP mean?

thanks for any advise,

OOP mean out of pocket...the amount of actual money spent on a trip. Most of the time I have coupons that net me free stuff or pretty close to it. I also use gift cards for my purchases.

To begin, take an inventory of what you have, not just food, but HBA stuff too, shampoo, conditioner, soap, fem stuff...and see what you need. Most couponers strive to keep at least a one year supply of things on hand...some stuff I have at least 5 years worth, lol!

Then start scouting out coupons for the things you need...don't be brand loyal...watch the boards for coupon match up to the ads...and stock up when you see something at rock bottom prices.

A friend of mine heard you on the radio, and told me about it because I am a saving fool. I refuse to pay full price for anything. Groceries are a large expense since my husband and I try to eat healthy and we all know that these foods are more expensive. - Nice huh? At any rate, I was reading thru the comments and noticed your advice to scout coupons. So my question is...where do you scout? I get three newspapers a week so that I have severals coupons, but can I use additional coupons for the same items? I thought you could only use one coupon per item? I shop at Kroger as well, but I am not doing something right with a 100-150wk grocery bill.

at most stores you can only use one coupon per item...with the exception of a store coupon and a mfg coupon. For example, you have a $1 Juicy Juice coupon and if you go onto Targets website you can print a Target coupon for $1 off Juicy Juice...therefore you are now saving $2 on your juicy juice...same with other stores.

look for hang tags around wine bottles and beer displays, tear pads and peelie coupons on the products. These all help to maximize your savings.

you can get extra coupons by either trading the ones you have and don't need for the ones you want, ordering them from a service, or even writing to your favorite companies and asking them for coupons.

You can frequently find coupons for produce and other healthy food, but I agree, it is hard. Just keep your eyes open. You can make up and ISO (in search of) list to get your coupons too.

Thanks for the quick response, i'll try not to be a pest with my questions, but I am trying to figure out a few things about this site. I currently use another site, in which i pay for and the list is a little different. I don't understand exactly how to read it. If the unit cost doesn't have a price listed, does that mean it is free? I don't see how though, because for ex:crest toothpaste, on sale 2:00, coupon is for .50. even if it is doubled, that is still 1.00...correct? Am I not selecting the coupons correctly?
