Welcome to my blog! This will be a continuation of my annual budget goal that I started on August 1st, 2007.
Happy New Year 2009

I actually pulled it off, with a little bit to spare!
My total available to spend is $7.54 left out of my initial $800.
My total year to date savings is $7096.74!
Stay tuned for next years challenge. I am going to attempt to do it two years in a row with the same $800 initial cash starting point!
Thanks to all of you who have followed me and cheered me on, you are a great moral booster!
2009 is going to be full of more budget conscious shopping tips, more recipes and more giveaways.
See you on the flip side!
Some things I know I will do different in 2009:

Some things I know I will do different in 2009:
- have more fresh fruits and veggies in our diet. even though I have a garden (which failed for the most part this year) and tons of canned or frozen, it would be nice to have more fresh
- learn to cook more from my stockpile and learn to substitute items better
- get more protein in our diets. we are not huge meat eaters and I realize I should try and pack in more protein for our meals
- splurge a little more. my kids probably think I am a big meanie most of the time, usually saying no to their requests to purchase certain items
- not waste so much food. this is a big one for us. my kids won't eat left overs very often and I am still used to cooking for 8 people (the amount before the big "D") and need to learn to cook for smaller amounts or immediately put it in the freezer for another day, otherwise know as once a month cooking (OAMC)

BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!

WOW!! only $800 a year for 4 people (and pets). I'm sure you've got a great stockpile of many things, but I'm still not sure how you could pull it off with the groceries - especially perishables for which there aren't many q's .
This year I'm going to try to limit my grocery spending to $30 a month (and I'm only one in the house
). Usually, it's between $70-$90 because I buy a lot of tv dinners and such. So now I'll need to learn to cook more!! :hectic1:
Already I can tell it won't be easy because I've had to pass up some tempting deals at the store. But I've told myself that there's already enough food to last several weeks - so EAT WHAT YOU'VE GOT!!
Anyway, thanks for being a savings inspiration. I look forward to following your blog this year.
