May 1, 2008 - 1/3 way though the year!

Kroger had these beauties on sale for 5/$1
oop $1 real money, no coupons, no gift cards, lol
total available to spend $827.79
total saved for the year $3435.30
Now do you all realize with the year being 1/3 over that I have actually MADE money buying groceries? I started out the year with $800 and now have $827.79 available to spend. That is a profit of $27.79 so far for the year and I have not even touched my $800.00
I also know there is a lot of controversy going on about what I buy. People think all I feed my kids and myself is junk food. I take pictures of EVERYTHING! There really is not much junk food at all. Yes, I do buy processed food, but that does not mean it is not good for you. In fact, anything that you do not grow yourself is processed. We have TONS of fruits and veggies, mostly frozen or canned, but I also get fresh as you can tell from my pictures.
We don't eat much red meat at all, by choice, but do eat tons of seafood. Heart problems run strong in my family, so one great reason to stay away from the red meats which are not so great for you. My family is not overweight, in fact the two youngest could stand to gain some weight. We have no health problems and are generally healthy. We do take vitamins...which I get for free.
So to all those who think you can't live healthy using coupons...think again. You can find all kinds of coupons for produce, milk, eggs, cheese...you name it, you can probably find it. Just this morning at Kroger I found coupons for $1/2 Pictsweet tomatoes! Will go great with my free salad I had coupons for yesterday.
If you can't find coupons, trade for them. You can usually trade for other coupons, coke codes, stickers or even handling fees. I even contact manufacturers of products and get free item coupons most of the time. The ones I won't use, I will trade with other people for the coupons I will use. Everybody wins!

| | Love your attitude!I have just recently found your Blog and I just love your attitude. (Don't you hate the fun haters that try to bring you down in your fun just because they can't do what you do or try to see wrong in something so great?) I just love your hobby. I would consider you a master at your hobby. I am also trying to master the cheap shopping hobby but it is a little more challenging in a small town. We have four grocery stores (United, Albertsons, a little Mom and Pop store and Walmart) to choose from and since there isn't much competition we don't get the double coupons offers. I would love for a Aldi or Von's or something to come here and stir up the competition. Your blog Jane 4 girls gave me two ideas for getting back more money. Caregivers Marketplace and the Polygrip Restaurant gift cards. Not that I have bought any Polygrip before but I now have a reason to. Now if I can only find the receipts for the caregivers form I will be doing great. Thanks for everything |
