Shopping Trip - August 23rd - my best one yet!!!

Today's shopping trip was unbelievable. I used overage to pay for an Espresso maker!!!!

Total Spent: $1.07, which I put on a gift card.
Total Saved: $157.70!!!!!!
So yesterday, I discovered this deal on the awesome Rite Aid subforum. Basically, there is a special RA coupon book with a coupon for $5 off of any BeFine product. RA has single serve packets on sale for $1.99, resulting in $3.01 overage!
Today is the last day of the sale, so I went back to see if I could get a few more coupon books. I asked one of the cashiers if I could have a few, and he handed me a whole stack! So for my first run, I grabbed 2 BeFine packets and 2 boxes of band aids. I asked the cashier (who I believe is the store manager) if it would be OK for me to do 2 separate transactions.
He said certainly, and began ringing them up. He then noticed the coupons and said, "You know, I can do both of these in one transaction, if you would like." I said that would be great, but I had thought that it was limit one per transaction. He said that there was no problem with it, and the register took it fine. My total was .26 cents on a GC, and then it printed out a survey invitation on my receipt. The manager handed me a trick or treat bucket with candy and said that I could have a piece of candy since I got the survey offer! ".26 cents, and you get free candy! Doesn't get any better than that," he remarked, and I wholeheartedly agreed!!
And now, a whole new possibility was opened up for me. The manager said it was OK to use more than 1 of these coupons per transaction, and he always seems very knowledgeable about coupon policies, so I trust that he is correct and that the store will be properly reimbursed for them. I had 29 of these coupons left, and at $3.01 overage for EACH one, I was awestruck at the massive overage I had the opportunity to receive! So what do you get with $87.29 worth of overage?
I got:
31 BeFine packets
2 boxes of band aids
1 pair of tongs
1 set of measuring cups
1 set of measuring spoons
1 set of spatulas
1 cookie sheet
1 portable cake pan - you bake the cake, and then snap on a lid with handles to take it with you!
1 thermos
1 travel mug
1 box of sandwich baggies
AND AN ESPRESSO MAKER!!!!!! I have always wanted one of these, and I am a coffee addict, so this is such a cool thing to get!!!!! Can you even believe it?
I am floored with what I got. Everything I picked was practical (except for the espresso maker, which is just awesome!). I really needed all of the kitchen stuff - the measuring cups and spoons I had before have the measurements painted on, and now it's faded away, so I have no idea which ones are which. (suffice to say, I bought ones with the measurements embedded in the plastic this time!) What a moneysaver, since I needed to get this stuff anyway. I also needed a new thermos - which will also be a moneysaver when I'm at work, since it will reduce the number of lattes I buy. And now that I have this espresso maker....
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU HCW!!!!

| | Awesome! you did great. The same thing happened to me. Exactly the same thing , they even handed me the stack of coupon booklets to pull more befine q's out of. I have 39 packets of befine! With my overage I chose to get the visa rebate J&J stuff, b&d coffee pot, listerine, ziplocs, crest, and pringles chips for some rebates I had from beer companies. I even got the survey, no candy though! ![]() LOL, ra is a new experience for me. I have never had a manager take a display down and give me the stuff off of it. She did it for my bogo viv q's. I haven't been "asked" to come back again (by someone that really meant it). From what I have read on the ra threads, I know to enjoy this while It's happening. Riteaid is my new favorite store! |
