DS vs DSi vs Wii.... HELP!!!

Trying to decide what to get my two oldest for Christmas. I've been working an extra job so I have about $200 to spend.
Questions:
1. If you had the same decision... an indiv. game vs wii which would you choose? why?
2. Where is the best place to buy each?
3. If you were deciding between a DS Lite and a DSi what would you choose? (my kids are 9 and 7)
I keep going back and forth and could use some input.
Thanks!

I was in a similar situation. I'd had the Gameboy Advance for awhile but they stopped making games for it so I decided to upgrade to a DS. When I went to Toys R Us to buy it, though, I realized I really wanted the Wii because of all the games they had that I liked. I got lucky and TRU had them in stock so I bought one. I still bought the DS later on and each has it's purpose.
I like the DS because of its portability. I spend a lot of time waiting at airports and doctor's offices and I can bring my DS with me. When I had surgery last fall I was able to bring it to the hospital (i was in for 3 days).
I like the Wii because it's more interactive. Many of the games force you to get up and move, which is good. The graphics are crazy good, even on my almost 30 year old TV.
So here's a question for you...if you buy the DSi, will your kids have to share it or can you get one for each? If they have to share it I'd recommend getting the Wii.
By the way, I'm 39 and have no kids (just to let you know the background of the person giving you her opinion hehehe)

If you decide on the Nintendo DS, I'd chose that over the DSi because the DS has the slot for Game Boy games and the DSi doesn't. There are a lot of cool Game Boy games out there that shouldn't be overlooked.

Hello...we have all 3 (long story about this). I have a 9 year old girl and she would say to get the DSi over the DS. She loves to play with the bells and whistles it has over the DS. Like the earlier post says, the hand helds are great to take along with you to places you would like to have the little ones entertained (as long as they are good at sharing or if you are getting a DSi for each child!!). If you have 2 DSi's they can play two different games or play against each other. My daughter loves how interactive the Wii games are also. They are very simple for the little ones to play, not complicated by too much visual distractions when it comes to the graphics. Just think about if you want the option of taking a game system with you when you leave out of the house or if you want them to just play at home. I know it is a tough, I suggest the DSi over the DS (along with my daughter) but between DSi over Wii...?Posted 11-03-2009 at 12:41:29 PM by SAHM2One

Hi, I have 4 kids in my home 13, 11, 9 and 2. We have a Wii and 2 DS's. The Wii gets played almost daily and the DS's maybe once a week if that. I think the Wii is way better, more interactive, they are still moving not sedintary and they can play together or alone. Good luck!!Posted 11-17-2009 at 06:08:36 PM by jfis2053
