Tonight friends of ours celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows. The ceremony and reception that followed were both wonderful and it was so nice to see their love for each other.
Earlier today, my DH and I looked at our expenses for the last 10 months. Grocery spending for October was down, but we didn't see a clear overall decrease in our grocery bill and I wonder what I'm doing wrong. I've identified a few things:
1) I spent too much money for Thanksgiving dinner. This was because I bought some wine (4 bottles for two rebates).
2) I've been buying too much for my stockpile. My stockpile is now pretty good and I'm going to make an effort to buy things that are only at their rock bottom price. The rest of my budget will be for meat, milk, etc.
3) Beef isn't cheap. My DH can't eat poultry so we have beef regularly. I'll be looking for ways to stretch that.
We did have some good news, though! We've been trying to reduce our "dining out" spending and we've succeeded! We spent at least 50% less for eating out in October than in previous months. That means more eating in and a higher grocery bill. But that's okay. I'll be checking out the frugal eating websites for ideas.
