My ds, who is 3 1/2 was potty-trained when he was right at 2 yrs old. We had a flood in our house, lost it and everything we owned and lived in a hotel for 2 1/2 mos, then a rental for 2 more mos. and he got all messed up w/being potty-trained.

So it's been a struggle ever since (the past 18 mos) to 'retrain' him. So FINALLY, I can say he's been officially potty-trained since 5/22/09. WHOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :BigHand: :BigHand:

I've been telling EVERYONE I see that he's potty-trained, even cashier at the store that I don't know. :whistle67: :hysterical:

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO stinkin' EXCITED to not have to buy diapers, pullups, butt creams & pastes of all kinds ANY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm sad to admit it, I'm yet another year older....... 34 yrs young to be exact and while I'd have to say that it's been a pretty good day, I'm still a little upset. As of right now, my dad and brother still hasn't called. Neither has any of my friends....

My oldest child decided to really show her butt today and made this evening rather stressful for the entire family.

My dh did surprise me w/balloons, flowers and a boyds bear.

Honestly, I just don't get my family. BUT, I guess that's the way they always are and I shouldn't expect anything else, but deep down inside of me, there is a part of me that WANTS them to care and WANTS them to remember me, remember MY birthday.

I don't know, it was still a really good day. I got free food at bob evans, free ice cream at baskins robbins and some KILLER deals at Target and Kroger's. :BigHand:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

and well, still no definite answers about anything. I did however spend over an hr w/the dr. Shocked the crap out of me!!!! He was very thorough and did an exam. Took down a lot of notes, even took my list of probs I've been having physically. Very compassionate, yet straight forward dr.

He then sent me for labs. I didn't think she was ever gonna stop taking blood from me!!!! But that's all behind me. The dr. didn't say what he was testing, just that I needed labs. They also did a urinalysis. :shrug7:

I go back March 5 to see him and we'll go from there. He did mention something about longterm steroids. :rolleyes24: Not real sure about that either, but I assume that I'll have more of a bigger picture painted for me and hopefully some answers in 2 wks.

I will def. keep everyone posted when I find something out. Thank you so very much for the support and prayers!!!

:hysterical: :hysterical: :giggle2: :giggle2: :hysterical: :hysterical:

Ok, so maybe I won't, but it is a good possibility. Today started day 1 of serious potty-training boot camp for our ds. When we had our flood back in Dec. '07, ds had just turned 2 yrs old and was totally potty-trained. Then we had the flood, lived in a hotel for 2 1/2 mos, then in a rental house for another 2 mos. all the while travelling 5 1/2 hrs every day for 2 round trips to take our oldest dd to school. So his potty training went right out the window.

I have tried and tried and tried and begged and pleaded to get him back to being potty trained. Quite frankly I am sick of buying diapers, wipes, pullups, ointments, creams, salve, mixing aquaphor and mylanta, etc. Our ds has the worst rash probs on his butt, it's been a costly venture just taking care of his other end. :giggle2:

So today started my version of potty training boot camp. I set the refrigerator timer to go off every 30 minutes. And I told him that when he heard the alarm he was to stop what he was doing and high-tail it to the potty. Well................................. IT WORKED!!!! Believe it or not, it worked!!!!! We went round the clock from the time he got up till the time he went down just about 15 min. ago and he didn't have the first accident OR wear his first pullup. He was put in a diaper tonight b/c I don't want his bed soaked, BUT he did it his first day!!!

I'm almost afraid to shut my eyes for fear of hearing that alarm going off in my head. Honestly, I think it's GREAT that he's retraining, BUT I HATE THAT STUPID ALARM!!!!!! It drove me nuts ALL DAY!! LOL

Ah, well, at least I am making headway w/him. I'm hoping that this is the beginning of the end for him and the expense of diapering................

I went to the dr. on Fri., Jan. 16 to get the results of my bloodwork from 12/31. The dr. went over everything with me and he agrees with me in thinking that it could be SLE (systemic lupus). Sorry I haven't been able to post sooner. I ended up back at the dr. on Wed. the 21st b/c of a throat infection and it was difficult just to eat and swallow b/c of the pain.

He wanted to send me to the Cleveland Clinic, but that's over a 6 hr. drive from here one way. And right now, I can't afford that, nor do I have someone to watch my 3 kids. BUT, we do have 3 rheumatologists here, and I have an appt Feb. 19, which is GREAT b/c I figured it was gonna be longer than that (as did my dr). If I dont' get any answers there, then my doc is gonna send me to the Cleveland Clinic.

I have mixed emotions. I am scared out of mind and yet relieved to FINALLY be getting some answers as to why I always feel the way I do. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia some yrs back, but there's always been more than what the 'classic symptoms' of that are. I have bad days and worse days. There are never any good days. I feel like I am just barely getting by each day, all filled with pain or worse pain. Honestly, it's really starting to wear on me and is unfortunately took out on my dh and my kids at times and I hate that about myself. I wish this would all go away and I didn't have to feel the way I do. I feel like my life is just passing right by before my eyes. Like I can't actively participate in my own life, like I have to be a bystander and just watch from the sidelines.

My babies deserve better than a mommy that can't function to her fullest, I deserve better than to feel like this all the time.

Well, I didn't spend anything this wk. Didn't go to WM on Monday b/c the kids had dentist appts to go to the other way from where I do all my Mon. running. So I nixed that. I did go to CVS on Mon. while out, but used ecbs & gc to get my pepsi and chips for $0.00 spent. And then I got sick with a throat infection mid-wk, so I never ventured back out at all.

So..... expenses for the wk... ZERO. So I'm still at:
GAS: – wk 3 for January
$14.28 - dh
$21.26 – me
TOTAL gas spent: $41.20

*deep breath* EVERYTHING looks great, BUT my WBC (white blood cell count) is very low and my ANA screen w/reflex is positive (and abnormal). Also, sed rate is off. I did some research online, looks like it could be systemic lupus. I'm holding my breath till friday to see what the dr. thinks and says about all of this before I let myself completely freak out.

I wanna thank everyone who is praying for me. I will definitely keep you posted as soon as I found out on Friday was the doc thinks.

Ok, I'm sitting here. It's 12:45am and I can't sleep. Why? Cause my nerves are all frazzled over some bloodwork that I had done. I guess I should back up a bit and explain.

I was diagnosed several yrs ago with Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Well, here lately, I've been having probs w/my balance, w/my grip in my hands (constantly dropping things, my ds), muscles burning, extreme muscle fatigue... the list goes on and on. And unfortunately, the dr. has been unable to come up w/a course of treatment or drugs that is effective at managing and controlling my symptoms, mainly my pain.

For many mos. now I've really been physically struggling to keep up w/what I would have normally just sailed right through. Even my cpning, trading and such has suffered some. Sometimes, it's almost like my mind is telling my body to go and my body is just sitting still or like there's some kind of miscommunication between the two. B/c there are some days, I swear, my body just doesn't go or do like it should. It's a very frustrating and aggravating thing to say the least, which in turn wears on my patience, and that trickles down to my children and my ability to tolerate each one of their "quirks" and just "being kids". Which breaks my heart.

So I approached my dr. and asked if they could draw blood and test for many things (since they're already in there poking around on my arm). :wink7: And since it was time for me to get my thyroid checked (family history, checked yearly). Well, they finally called back on Mon. and said that I needed to come in so he could talk to me about my bloodwork. If everything was normal, they would just say, "Everything looks normal, just come in when it's time for your annual checkup, or if you get sick".

But nooooo, they didn't say that. And the receptionist wouldn't say what was wrong, or course. So I sit here.... my mind running wild, all over the place of the possibilities, b/c I know what they tested for and well, what if it's this, or what if it's that....

I called the lab earlier today and asked if a patient would be able to get a copy of their lab work and they said yes. So here I sit, debating on whether or not to go first thing in the a.m., drive the 45 min. one way just to pick up the results 2 days before I see the dr. to see what was said on my results. Which btw I know what I'm reading and how to decipher it all. And I know me, I will put the girls on the bus first thing after 7am and then RUN down there to the lab to get my results, just b/c I have to know, I wanna know. I wanted to know the second my dr. got the labs in his little fingers. :hectic1:

So needless to say, I'm sitting here very nervous and anxious, as well as a little scared over what the outcome is. I know there's something wrong w/me besides my fibro and CFS. I just know it. Something is "off" inside my body, it isn't functioning like a 33 yr. old body should and honestly, it scares the CRAP out of me just thinking about it. But in the same breath, I want an answer and I want my plan of treatment so I can get my life back and get back to enjoying my life, my dh, my kids, my family and doing the things I so truly enjoy doing.

So if you've got a prayer to spare, I sure would appreciate one. I just wish I could calm my nerves and get some much needed sleep.

Thanks for getting this far!!

****My budget challenge****

A little history...... I set out on a mission to try to get my budget for our groceries, cleaners, hba, diapers/wipes/ointment, OTC drugs, etc. as low as possible. It started off at $400, and I was able to get it down to $320, then went to $300, and then I got it to $268. For the past 4-5 mos., I've been able to hold it steady at $250/mos.

Well, it is a new year and I am challenging myself to see if I can get my budget down a whooping $50/mos..... to only spend $200 per month for ALL our groceries, cleaners, hba, diapers, pullups, wipes, ointment, OTC drugs, etc.

I am keeping a handwritten journal of where I shop and how much I've spent, along w/each receipt.

Doing this is something that I REALLY wanna achieve. And I'm hoping that I can do this. Year before last I kept track of my savings, MIR, GC earned, etc. and I saved my family over $33,000 that year. I'm not sure if I will EVER top that!! And quite frankly, it was exhausting trying to keep up with recording the savings.

I challenge anyone that wants to join, even if you wanna try to shave $5 off your budget to join me in my quest to spend even less in 2009!!!

Keep checking back for updates on my progress (if you want to). :wink7:
