So here is how my NEW budget is going to look:

$40 per week (down from $60 in 2009) for our household consumables- groceries, hba, cleaning supplies and paper products for me, DH and 2 ds's (6yo and 3yo) 3 cats and one mini pin (dog, <15 lbs) I am also including costs for my newspapers, I typically buy 5-10 every week.

I also do surveys to earn Paypal credits, some occasional rebates and pay-to-click for gift cards. These funds are funnelled back into my budget.

Here's to my goal of $2010 in 2010!

Week of 2/2 Savings

Posted 02-09-2009 at 07:30:14 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

Well, here is another week gone by and another week that I went over budget without even realizing it.

I keep justifying it in my mind, thinking that I'm getting things I really truly need, and building my stockpile with things we will really use and are healthy.

I had to get milk at Albertsons, .67 per 1/2 gallon, plus free veggies and .50 for Progresso soup!

The Daytona 500 sale at Kroger messed me up because halfway thru the week they stopped doubling...

A brag about my DH

Posted 02-05-2009 at 07:24:24 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

I found this no-knead bread recipe and tried it. It was so simple to make, and DH is a huge bread lover, he started asking me to make it almost every day!

Today (he stays home with the kids) he wanted some and found the recipe so he is going to make it himself!

He called and asked me for some tips and I told him it's so easy there really wasn't anything to it, but to call me later and let me know how it goes.

Week of 1/26 Savings

Posted 02-02-2009 at 07:10:49 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

I got a $50 rebate that I had forgotten about, so I added that into my savings account.

I did NOT go over budget for January, but only because I was so distracted by the Super Bowl this week, that I only made one trip to Kroger.

I am going to try to squeeze in another trip before the new sales start on Wednesday, I've got enough coupons for at least one GOOD transaction.

Budget Surplus for January: 31.22

MTD totals...

Got my freezer!

Posted 01-29-2009 at 12:14:44 PM by Cynthiabutterfly

I've been looking at Craigslist for about a month now, looking for a larger chest freezer, but I haven't been able to pick one up because we don't have a truck.

I mentioned to my sister that I was desperate for one because of the Kroger Mega Deal my freezer was packed to the brim and I still had coupons left!

She talked to her husband, and he borrowed a truck from his BIL (his sister's husband). I found the perfect freezer the next day, 3x the size of the one I had for...

Week of 1/19 Savings

Posted 01-26-2009 at 06:46:58 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

I didn't want to spend much this week, but Kroger had the Mega sale going so I had to take advantage.

I got my $10 rebate for Indiana Jones/conagra, so I added that to my budget.

I still have enough coupons for 2 more transactions, and I am expecting more in the mail, but we're in a new budget week for me, so I won't be over budget this week or next week.

Total OOP: $53.28
Budget Surplus: $6.72
