So here is how my NEW budget is going to look:

$40 per week (down from $60 in 2009) for our household consumables- groceries, hba, cleaning supplies and paper products for me, DH and 2 ds's (6yo and 3yo) 3 cats and one mini pin (dog, <15 lbs) I am also including costs for my newspapers, I typically buy 5-10 every week.

I also do surveys to earn Paypal credits, some occasional rebates and pay-to-click for gift cards. These funds are funnelled back into my budget.

Here's to my goal of $2010 in 2010!

Posted 03-23-2009 at 07:16:14 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

Ok, so I haven't posted for a few weeks- I was sick, then we had to move our office (twice) then DH was sick, DS had a not-so-pleasant dentist visit, etc, whatever other excuses I can't think of right now.... to my post:

Week of 3/2:
Total OOP $101.06
($41.06 over budget)

Week of 3/9:
Total OOP $61.54
($1.54 over budget)

Week of 3/16:
Total OOP $69.32
($9.32 over budget)

Leaving me with a grand total of $8.08...

Change of plans

Posted 03-06-2009 at 07:29:42 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

So my plan was to stick to a grocery budget and use the savings to buy a family car this year. And the best laid plans of mice and men... and couponers....

My plans have changed. Drastically. I got a much bigger tax refund than I had planned on, enough to be completely debt-free for the first time in 8 years (except for my mortgage of course) with enough left over to buy a car and create an emergency fund.

DH spent $500 on a suburban which needs LOTS of work, and spent...

Week of 2/23 Savings

Posted 03-02-2009 at 08:31:25 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

This was a very sad week for me. I missed the $10/$50 and the chill out $10/$25 deals at Tom Thumb because I got very sick on wednesday afternoon. I pretty much stayed in bed until this morning when I had to come back to work.

I also let my $3 Slimfast, my .50 Multigrain Cheerios coupons, and my .35 Crescent coupons expire because I just could not get out of bed.

I'm going to try to make a trip on my way home from work, and my budget surplus will go into the savings...

Savings week of 2/16 and DS's 2nd Birthday

Posted 02-23-2009 at 08:54:36 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

2 trips to Albertsons and one to Kroger:

Total OOP: $56.89
Budget Surplus for Feb: -$6.38
Remaining budget for Feb: $53.62

I made a separate trip to buy paper goods and decorations for DS's 2nd birthday, and I did not count his cake and ice cream as part of my grocery budget. I took it from our entertainment budget, and I didn't scrimp on anything, I bought what he asked for. (yes, he talks. Why is everyone so shocked that a 2 year old can speak in complete...

Savings week of 2/9

Posted 02-16-2009 at 07:38:56 AM by Cynthiabutterfly

I have enough Chef Boyardee to feed an army, but only 15 boxes of Pizza Rolls which will last 2 weeks with my two boys eating a box every day.

Then they'll have to either eat the CB, or go back to Peanut butter sandwiches..... which I will be cooking to an internal temp of 180 degrees, LOL.

Five trips to Kroger, one to Albertsons and my newspapers:

Total OOP: 29.39
Total savings: 119.27

Budget surplus is only negative $9.49 even after...
