So here is how my NEW budget is going to look:

$40 per week (down from $60 in 2009) for our household consumables- groceries, hba, cleaning supplies and paper products for me, DH and 2 ds's (6yo and 3yo) 3 cats and one mini pin (dog, <15 lbs) I am also including costs for my newspapers, I typically buy 5-10 every week.

I also do surveys to earn Paypal credits, some occasional rebates and pay-to-click for gift cards. These funds are funnelled back into my budget.

Here's to my goal of $2010 in 2010!

I was going to start this post with excuses why I went over budget.

This helped me realize why I don't stay within budget - excuses.

I went over my $60 goal by $16.34 and I have spent all but $3 of the money I saved in December between this week and last.

I can't close this post without giving my excuses though, so here they are:

I had to stock up on juice for my babies (ok, they are kids) because of the killer Nestle sale at Albertsons,...

I have 4377 MyPoints saved since mid-November. I redeemed all my points about 6 weeks before Christmas and used them for gifts. I have earned all these points since then.

This is almost enough points for 3 more $10 gift cards at 1500 points each, which is a lot for me, I usually only get about 3 $10 cards a year.

I got some for buying gift cards and things we needed for the family thru Target and Old Navy, and I am using my MyPoints visa also, paying it off in full...

Week of 12/29 Savings

I spent $18 on newspapers, which I think is good because there are easily 3 times the amount of coupons this week than there normally is, also, I haven't bought newspapers in 3 weeks!

Even though the newspapers did put me over budget, I'm still proud of myself for not going crazy buying less than stellar deals just because my coupons were about to expire. And I'm happy with my stockpiling efforts; poptarts, muffin mix, slimfast, and I got essentials that I needed.

For all the forgotten little piles, the ones that never matched a sale, the uncut, unsorted.... the expired.

December 31, 2008 has come and gone and you were not redeemed to be reborn as a stockpile.

We will not mourn your loss, but we will look towards the future for the new, the exiting, the B1G1frees!

My 2009 Budget

So here is how my budget is going to look:

$60 per week for groceries, hba, cleaning supplies and paper products for me, DH and 2 ds's (5 and 2) 3 cats and one mini pin (dog, <15 lbs)

I am going to "carry over" anything I don't spend for the week, since some weeks I don't shop for anything but milk, eggs and bread, and other weeks I will spend more in order to stock up on a good deal. (another Mega Sale, anyone?)

If I have any "Surplus"...
