Starting over November 1

Posted 10-21-2009 at 08:48:21 AM by crouton

Since I live in a small town I don't have access to a lot of the great deals others have. We don't have a WAGS or CVS. But as of November 1 we will be moving and will be right down the road from Kroger, Winn Dixie, Piggly Wiggly, WAGS, CVS, Target, Walmart, and no less than five Dollar General stores. So I am starting over. I'm already collecting coupons and looking at the sneak peeks for the first week of November. I plan to get to know my new town by scoping out the stores in the area. I went...

Meat Sale today

Posted 07-08-2008 at 07:12:31 PM by crouton

I went by Piggly Wiggly to get some pet food and some bread and with leftover money decided to pick up some more ground beef. I found a family pack with a tag of $7.73 and 2 coupon stickers on it for a total of $4 off. It's still good and it's fine because I'd planned to cook it today and tomorrow anyway! I ended up spending only $10 in Piggy Wiggly out of $18.

Dh's trip to Walgreens

Posted 06-30-2008 at 03:58:45 PM by crouton

Dh went to Walgreens to buy some things on sale and use coupons from the flyer. He also used our $7 in RR that we had. There was nothing we needed that would generate more RR this go round, but he was impressed.

He bought sugar, 3 6oz cans of Pringles, 2 packs of cheese and Dawn dish soap. After all the coupons he spend $1.35. I figured up that he saved $14.11! He was impressed.

Total coupon savings so far : $19.66

I could just cry, though! He came home and...

Almost done with the shopping

Posted 06-30-2008 at 12:28:27 PM by crouton

While I've been shopping for this week at many different places I feel like I've done so much better than usual. Before HCW I would take our grocery money, spend it all at one place, and a week later there would be no more food and no more money. By buying sales I'm able to stretch the money and still have some left. After today's shopping I still have $16 in cash left.

I went to Fred's and a local store called Pic N Save. I used the sales flyers at both stores in order to get good...

Shopping on a strict budget

Posted 06-29-2008 at 08:41:20 PM by crouton

We are very tight on grocery money this week so I am being very frugal on groceries. I cannot afford to waste the money. So the first stop today after church was the store to buy a paper and pick up sales flyers. The Piggly Wiggly flyer ended today, so I need to see when the new one begins / ends. We did get there this afternoon, though, and was able to take advantage of the flyer's savings. We also found out our local PW doubles coupons up to .50 and they have a gas club with a local gas station...
