Inspired by Jane4girls $800 challenge, I am challenging myself to meet this goal: Feed 2 people for $3 a day for a year = $1095.00. I believe I have a large enough stockpile (perishable and non-perishable) to accomplish this goal.

Here are my rules:

1. Spend $3/day or less for 2 people (includes 6 meals).
2. Tax does not count.
3. HBA, cleaning, etc. do not count.
4. Pet food does count in the $3/day. I am making my own dog food to supplement the dried food and will continue to feed the cat her regular food.
5. I plan on using the following to meet this goal: coupons, rebates, RR, ECB, gift cards. Hopefully, I will have enough of the above coming in that I can use them only to make the $3/day goal. My paycheck will be a back up in case I don't have the rebates, etc.
6. The days I cook out of my stockpile, freezer, etc., the $3 will go into an account for going out to eat, savings, etc. It will not be used to fund another day.

To take my challenge up another notch, I would love to have enough rebates, coupons, RR, ECB, etc. to cover the $1095 goal and to save the same amount of $1095.

I am looking for suggestions, recipes, ideas, etc. to help meet this goal. I plan to do a daily (will we see how long that lasts ) update to include menus, what was purchased, etc.

    Hi couponsmakesense,
When you freeze your milk and creamer, how does it turn out when you defrost it and how long does it then last? Thanks!

Hi, I just shake it a lot and it lasts days and up to a week for me. It stays slushy for days and will separate some - so we shake and shake.
I also pour some out of each jug to allow for expansion.

My mom always stocked up on milk when it was on sale and froze it. We never noticed the difference in flavor and always thought it was kind of cool when we would shake it up after and still find it a little slushy. Kind of like a treat growing up in the AZ desert. LOL! DH thinks that I am nuts for shaking the jugs even though I don't currently freeze milk myself. An old habit I guess. :) When I get a freezer (still working on it), I will definitely be buying extra milk and freezing it so that I don't have to make unexpected milk runs.
