Inspired by Jane4girls $800 challenge, I am challenging myself to meet this goal: Feed 2 people for $3 a day for a year = $1095.00. I believe I have a large enough stockpile (perishable and non-perishable) to accomplish this goal.
Here are my rules:
1. Spend $3/day or less for 2 people (includes 6 meals).
2. Tax does not count.
3. HBA, cleaning, etc. do not count.
4. Pet food does count in the $3/day. I am making my own dog food to supplement the dried food and will continue to feed the cat her regular food.
5. I plan on using the following to meet this goal: coupons, rebates, RR, ECB, gift cards. Hopefully, I will have enough of the above coming in that I can use them only to make the $3/day goal. My paycheck will be a back up in case I don't have the rebates, etc.
6. The days I cook out of my stockpile, freezer, etc., the $3 will go into an account for going out to eat, savings, etc. It will not be used to fund another day.
To take my challenge up another notch, I would love to have enough rebates, coupons, RR, ECB, etc. to cover the $1095 goal and to save the same amount of $1095.
I am looking for suggestions, recipes, ideas, etc. to help meet this goal. I plan to do a daily (will we see how long that lasts
) update to include menus, what was purchased, etc.
