40 day financial fast.

Posted 10-06-2008 at 07:11:37 AM by BigDog

We are think of doing this. Anybody else done this?

We are waiting till the beginning of the first paycheck in January.

We would start now. But, we have family going in/out, parties, fall festivals. Other "stuff" that makes us feel it is better to wait. Plus, we would like to "ease" into this. Cutting back unnecessaries slowly.

So we think the next "big" break from everybody wanting to go shopping/eat out/ go places will be after the holidays.

So I need to stock up on things that just irratates me to spend money on. Yes I know I have been at this awhile. And I should have a mundo thing of diapers stocked up on. And I don't. But, for some reason spending my "real" money on diapers just bites. So far I used the overage from the P&G deal from Wag's awhile back to get all my free diapers.

So for 40 days. Actually its going to be 6 weeks (3 paychecks).
We are not going to do alot.
1. Eat out. This is going to be our hardest one.:hectic1::hectic1::hectic1::hectic1:
2. Spend money on HBA (if I can get diapers stocked up then this shouldn't be hard).
3. Spend money doing "fun" things (bowling, go to an amusement park, etc.)
4. Spend money on "useless" things. Like stockpiling more toothpaste. (Yes there is 1 exception to that rule. It has to be one large of an overage amount.)
5. Cut out "useless" things from our budget. Like Netflix. We already have cut cable.

Why are we doing this? We won't be able to get both our student loan and the car loan off by our Valentines goal.:hectic1: But, maybe we could get the student loan gone.:shrug7:

Wow, good for you! I think it's great. I'm guessing picking up a few FREE items wouldn't count :-)
