Overbudgeted Vacation

So we overbudgeted fro the vacation. We thought $1000 was appropriate for vacation. That included wedding gift, extra gas money, motel, extra eating out, and "stuff" (like toys for the sand).

Well, we had a great time. Our vacation (1-day only) was on Friday at Tybee Island outside of Savannah.

It was SO fun! Couldn't put the littlest one down on a blanket. She has learned how to "move" on the ground. But, that was the "worst" of it.

We played all morning on the beach. Then we went to the Crabshack (owned by the brother of Paula Dean). Anyways, that was $50! Kids got pizza (I know pizza at a fish place strange. But, DD can't have shellfish. Per allergist orders. So we got the only thing that I thought the kids would eat there.) By the way not fond of the place. Didn't have that great of food if you ask me.

So the next day we ate at the hotel breakfast. Yuck carbs, carbs, carbs. Just never holds me over till lunch. Ate lunch with DH's grandparents and most of the family. His grandparents paid for it.

That night was the rehersal(sp?) dinner. MY tab alone for my meal was $56 dollars!!!!!! My in-laws paid for it. Next day breakfast at the carb hotel.

Then dinner at Zaxby's when we got home. Long trip for some reason, we were just tired to cook.

Anyways, trip break down.

$1000 (Starting)
-$100 extra gas money = $900
-$125 gift = $775
-$400 hotel =$375
-$100 "stuff" = $275 (Toys, beach blanket, and forgot a change of clothes for me).

-$100 extra food money = $175
-$100 10% just-in-case money = $75
-$75 Toddler Aerobed = $0

So where is the extra?

$0 (balance from above)
+100 (grandparent's gave $100 for gas)

= $100
+$100 extra food money (mostly paid for by DH's parents and grandparents)

= $200
+$100 10% Just-in-case money (didn't need it).

= $300
+$75 gift money (good sale at Kohl's for cookware) = $375
+$125 = extra money from the last month's groceries and blow, we were going to take with us.

=GRAND TOTAL from trip! $500 EXTRA!!!!

Gets better. In-laws called up they are sending us a check for the hotel room!!!!!

That will be = $400 more.

I've only put the money into the Student loan we have here.
