My weekend holiday

Just came back from a trip to D.C. Missed the Cherry Blossom Festival, again! My SO is there for a couple of weeks, so I took some days off around the weekend. Had a great time. Visited the Smithsonian, the National Museum of Natural History is my favorite, ate too much, spent a little too much, but what the hey! So the hotel we were staying at is surrounded by CVS's and Walgreens. They sell a lot of stuff for tourist and such, and as I went up and down the aisles, (with my baggie full of coupons, of course!), I hardly saw anything worthwhile to buy. And no clearance stuff anywhere to be found. Major let-down! But know what? With the tax so high, I probably would not have done so well. And the stuff would have weighed down my luggage anyway. Sunday we went to Union Station (major land transportation hub in DC) to see a movie and do some window shopping, and I found newspapers people left around, and grabbed the inserts! I do this at airports too. People buy the papers, then when their flights are announced, they either leave the papers on the seats or throw them in the bins, and there I go after them! Franchises like Subways, Burger King, etc. are other good places to check for abandoned papers on Sundays. During the warm weather, I pass by the public parks in my area and check the benches and trash bins. Since I can't dumpster dive in my county, this is an alternative for me. So about DC, it's a really nice place to visit, I would love to live there, but the cost of living is way too high for me. Besides, all I would do is visit museums all day, there are so many. There's always something to do in DC, no matter what the weather or time of year.
