Some people, (like my BF) have a real adversity to picking up money, like coins for instance, from the ground. My bf's stance is, "It was on the ground, it's full of germs! But I'll pick up bills! " And I respond, "Oh, so you think the money you get from the banks, ATM, stores, etc. is not as germy?" Give me a break! So anyway, yesterday, when I was parking my car, it seemed that whoever was parked in the spot next to me, had apparently dumped the contents of their ashtray on the ground, and in a small puddle of water there were lots of pennies, amoung the small wrappers, and cigarette butts. I dilingently took out a tissue, pick up the pennies, place them in the tissue and went home. When I got home I was counting the pennies, told my BF, said I was adding them to my stash that goes to the bank, and he gave me a smirk! Sure, I thought to myself, you didn't smirk like that when I told you last week I found $40 dollars, $20 on the floor in a bank, and $20 on the floor in the bathroom at work. Today I will deposit over $150, which is comprised of found money, survey checks, coupon savings, rebates, rolled coins, gifts, etc. And like I do every month when I come back from depositing, I tell him how much I saved, how those pennies really add up, etc. He was never taught to save money and can't seem to understand my passion for doing so. One day he'll get it.
