Green before it was cool.

One of my cousins just had a baby. She is very "green" and doing the cloth diapers, organic/local produce, etc.
The whole family went to see the new edition, including my 90 yr old great grandma .My great grandma pointed out the diapers and how much work it was when she did it for her five kids, when she(cousin) started talking about how it's better for the enviornment and such and went off on a tangent about resusing, buying local, getting meat that isn't pumped full of steroids, etc.
My great grandma starts laughing histarically, we all looked at her and she said "you kids all think you're being revoultionary when us old folks have been doing life that way forever. All my kids were raised on home grown produce, we raised and butchered our own meat, milked our own cows, gathered our own eggs, reused everything, made our own clothes, and yes, I even had to was their dirty diapers...by hand and hang them on the line. And I wasn't trying to impress anyone."
I'm all for saving the planet and I resue, reduce, recycle everything I can. I'm also all about buying local. I just thought it was too darn funny. She had some great points, I geuss she was just green before it was cool.
