Wow... My grandmother always said do not ever ask what next because if you do than you are surely to find out. I watched over the years and found this to be very true.
What grandmother forgot to tell me is you will find out anyways.
What grandmother forgot to tell me is you will find out anyways.
My 18 year old daughter was dating a guy that I did not want her too, she had been dating him 4 years. I was always polite to him but did not go out of my way to make him feel welcome.
He took a drug overdose in October 2007, he was in ICU for two weeks on a vent. He was a very lucky guy. My daughter finally broke up with him... so I thought only to find out she had been sneaking to see him.
I also found out, that he had taken a small overdose if such thing exist(wastreated at ER
and sent home.) That was around June 2008.
and sent home.) That was around June 2008.
My daughter finally came foward and announced she was seeing him again in October of 2008. He turned 21 on December 4,2008 and took his third and last overdose on December 12,2008. He did not live through that one. He and my daughter planned to marry on Valentines day 2009.(which was my 25th Anniversry.)
Needless to say she has been having a very hard time. I am glad she is away from him but not glad he left this earth...if that makes any sense.
Angies Life Outside The Box (Part 2)

I have a son who will be 21 in late April. When he was 12 he was DX with Hodgkins Lymphoma. We were very lucky as the cancer had gotten in his bones and spleen, after 6 rounds of chemo and 30 radation treatments there was none left.
When he was 16 he joined our local police cadet program, my husband and I were very excited. When he was 18 he went through the local Sheriffs offices Reserve program, he completed the program and stated he wanted a career in the Department.
We were totally shocked on January 9, 2009. I had talked to my son on the cell and he was mumbling and making no sense. We were disconnected. Later we received a call from a girl named Jordan, she said he was passed out at a friends house and they could not wake him up and that he had taken some pills. We asked for the address and asked that they call an ambulance and we went as quickly as my husband could drive, I called an ambulance on the way I had a feeling that these people would not. I had heard they sold drugs and I knew that with such a call the police come as well.
Upon our arrival the ambulance arrived as well. (I did later learn it was the ambulance I called) By this time the people at the house had aroused my son just enough that he stated he was fine and refused treatment and refused to go to the hospital.
I asked the paramedic what I should look for that I was taking my son home no matter if he liked it or not. He said the most important thing was to keep him awake for an hour and a half to two hours.
My husband helped him in the house and I got a pan of wated a sheet and a washcloth. He kept going to sleep and I would wash his face with the cloth, that was not waking him. I then placed the sheet around him and soaked the cloth with water and would squeeze it all over his face, this barely fazed him but he would at least move a bit.
My husband called the ambulance back, he was explaining what was occuring just as they had decided as long as he was moving he should be O.K. I heard my son doing what I thought was snoring. I drenched the cloth and squeezed no response, after two times I went outside and told hubby what was happening thank God he was still on the phone, the paramedic said for us to lay him on the floor, they had hubby check for any breath from his nose there was none, I worked in a nursing home years ago and also did private sitting so I knew the different areas to check for a pulse and there was none.
I heard hubby say tell my wife she can do that stuff, I remember looking at hubby and thinking OMG what stuff as he handed me the phone. I was instructed to open his mouth and check for vomit or blood...there was none, I was then told to start CPR... I totally forgot at that point how to do CPR.
I was walked through the process by the paramedic and on the 19th compression the first help arrived. I will never forget that feeling. They orignally called for medflight but for some reason cancelled, I rode with my son in the ambulance they ran no code and even stopped at the lights, this eased my fear a bit.
Once we got to the hospital he had to be put on a vent. This totally ticked me off that the ambulance ran no code IMO they did not realize his condition.
Long story shorter he stayed 2 days and nights in ICU... he was lucky.
Part of the reason I am writing this, is many people in all walks of life have children or know someone who abuses some type drug, what they do not know is what can make the difference in life or death. When my daughters BF took his two overdoses he was snoring when they checked on him same as my son...
This is not snoring in an overdose...they are choking on their own aspiration..so if you know someone who is concerned about someone they care for PLEASE let them know this... knowledge is power to some degree.
On March 7th there was a terrible car accident involving two teenagers in our area, one was killed on impat the other died the next day. The gil who called to let us know about our son was the girl killed on the site.
Her funeral was today.
I am not really sure exactly why I am willing to tell such personal things to the people here other than stated above, I think maybe because I believe she would have wanted people to have knowledge as well.
I hope this can help someone out there.
