This post was first published before the State Legislature of Illinois held hostage by the Govenor did in fact pass a Transit Funding Bill Which included free riding for Seniors. In theory, I was not opposed to the plan, the problem was his timing, which threatened to stop all public transit in the city dead the following week. It did create fodder for some pretty sick jokes and a few good points. Despite the respite, it looks like the President of CTA is going to replace a lot of the Exempt staff...

Many times when I am troubled or confused, I find comfort in sitting in my back yard and having a beer, along with a quiet conversation with Jesus.

This happened to me again after a particularly difficult day.

I said, "Jesus, why do I work so hard?"

Grocery Spending totals for February 2008:

Total oop: $387.94
Total savings: $599.26

Actual dollars spent increased by $45.06 and the savings decreased by $13.54 compared to January. I was hoping to get closer to our goal of $300 a month instead of farther away from it since February was our first full month on the budget.
