QUESTION Blinkie experience and question...

My sister got a blinkie out of Walgreen and tried to use it at Walmart super store self check out, the coupon beeped, so the front end manager came over
She told her that the coupon could not be used in Walmart, as it did not state "manufacturers coupon" on it....
It did NOT state that it was exclusive for Walgreen either.

I got a couple fron Shaws yesterday, they appear to be Manufacturers coupons, without the actual words....

I guess my question is

Do the store specific blinkies state which store they are for/accepted?

TIA...

In my experience most blinkies are manufacturer's coupons. I have had trouble using them at Wal-mart if they are coded not to double (number at the bottom begins with a 9). They should be okay to use anywhere, but I have gotten to the point that I rarely try at WM because I don't find it to be worth the hassle.

They are considered MFG. The only trouble I had was with CVS. In fine print, the one I had said 1 per customer. I had a bunch of them and the cashier would only take one of them. Blinkies can be found in many stores. I've never seen blinkies be store-specific or considered non-MFG.

Default Re: Blinkie experience and question...

From our blinkies FAQ:

Q: Are blinkies manufacturer's coupons or store coupons?

A: Blinkies are generally manufacturer's coupons, but occassionally they are Store specific coupons (For example at Publix, occassionaly Publix coupons will be put into the machines. These have no bar codes and can only be used at Publix or at a store that accepts Publix competitor coupons.)

I do have one store (locally owned, discounted food store) that will not accept blinkies, just because they do not have the word's Manufacturer's coupon on them, but I've never had a problem using them at any other store.

at WM, if the blinkie start with "5" and say mfr coupons, they are accepted by the register. if the blinkie starts with "9" and even if its mfr coupon, it doesn't go through and I don't push it.

The mean lady at Walmart told me that they didn't take them because they didn't have blinkies...I just left my order there. I think she was pissed because i was going to get a bunch of trial sizes for free. I suspect she may be right, though.

We just got a neighborhood Walmart (green sign) and will try there because I haven't had any trouble with any IPs going through and they have said if it goes through they can take it. they are really nice there...guess it is part of their marketing strategy...lol

My Mom just told me that Wegmans is rejecting the blinkies that she picked up at Tops for that reason - does not say manufacturer's coupon so therefore it is a store coupon. It has a bar code just like a manufacturer's coupon - very strange.

Walmart always does that. I'm glad to know about the '5' and the '9'. I'll have to remember that because it SO ticks me off when they refuse the coupons and make like I'm a criminal.

BTW, CVS and RA (not sure about WAG) will beep at all blinkies with a barcode started with 9, the same way as WM does.
