    QUESTION Coupon policy clarification

K, if I go to the warehouse and buy a 20 pack of Irish spring, can I use 20 manufacturers coupons on that pack?

I called BJs customer service. They said if I bought a two pack of shampoo I could but not a 20 pack of soap.

    I am confused.

if the soaps are individually barcoded you should be able to.
i just came from there I had a bj''s 10.00 off coupon if you bought lysol 3 pack spray and 3pack lysol wipes. each 3 pack was 10.00, but I also had 3 1.00 coupons for the spray and 3 1.oo coupons for the wipes. I got both 3.00 packs for 4.00. Score.

this is the email i got from BJs Customer Car after asking about their coupon policy

Thank you for contacting BJ's with your inquiry. We welcome your input and strive to make every BJ's shopping trip exceed your expectations.

BJ'S is the only wholesale club to accept manufacturers' coupons.

When purchasing a multi-pack of "individual for sale" packaged items, which is a set of items that could be sold individually (each item has a barcode) shrink-wrapped and sold together, shoppers can combine one BJ'S-issued coupon with manufacturers' coupons. However, you cannot exceed the actual retail price in the total value of coupons.

    o Examples of a multipack:

     Three-pack of toothpaste

     Two-pack of salad dressing

     Three-pack of taco kits

o Examples of products that are NOT a multipack:

Box of cereal that contains two bags (the bags cannot be sold individually)

     Case of water

     Case of soda

     Case of motor oil

Members may also use one BJ'S coupon and one manufacturer's coupon on a single item.

In terms of manufacturer's coupons that are 'buy one, get one free' BJ'S will honor the coupon for items in stock as long as BJ'S price does not exceed the maximum value stated on the coupon. If the manufacturer's coupon does not state the maximum value then BJ'S can not honor the coupon.

BJ'S cannot accept multiple BJ'S-issued coupons on a product.

Q: I have a coupon for a TV, but the TV is not available in my Club.

A: Any items featured on coupons are supported in all Clubs; however, all our coupons are only available while supplies last. This is clearly stated on the coupons. Tire coupons are an exception, since we do not have tire bays in all our Clubs.

Q: Can I use an expired coupon? Can I use a coupon that is valid starting tomorrow?

A: We apologize, but we are only able to redeem valid coupons.

    Q: I have a tax-exempt Membership. Can I use coupons?

    A: Yes.

Q: Can I use competitors' coupons at BJ'S?

A: No, BJ'S does not accept coupons from other stores. We do accept manufacturers' coupons.

Q: Does BJ'S accept manufacturers' coupons with no size or price limit on them?

A: No. This is to protect against coupon fraud. In general, manufacturers' coupons specify a size or price limit. When a coupon has no size or price limit, that often means it is fraudulent.

Q: Why do some coupons in the Member Savings Book expire earlier than others?

A: Coupons are sponsored by our vendors; this means we can only make a coupon valid for the window of time that the vendor is able to sponsor it. Our buyers work hard to negotiate coupons with vendors. In total, the array of coupons covers the entire month; we hope that our Members can plan their shopping accordingly.

    FAQ's regarding Coupon Usage

Q: Does your store price match to local competitors? If so, what is your price match policy?

A: No we do not price match. Most of our products are priced lower than the regular prices at other stores. When another store's sale price beats our regular price, generally, that price can only be maintained for a short time. Our prices are low all the time and will occasionally become even lower with coupon or rebate offers."

Savings are up to 30% off Supercenter and Grocery Store prices on a market basket of items and may vary based upon market area. Research conducted by Warehouse Club Focus, October 2005.

Q: Are there any local competitors of which you are aware, that you do NOT price match to? (I.e. Cosco/Sam's Club)

A: We are aware of what our competitor's prices are, but again we do not price match.

Q: What is your policy on accepting manufacturer's coupons?

A: We accept ALL manufacturers' coupons for products we sell.

    Q: May I combine a manufacture's coupon and a store coupon?

A: Yes, so long as the combined coupon value does not exceed the price the item is selling for.

Q: If an item sold for less than the face value on the manufacturer's coupon, will you accept it?

A: No, coupons have no cash value therefore we cannot give money back from coupons.

Q: If an item sold for less than the face value on a store coupon, will you accept it?

A: No, coupons have no cash value therefore we cannot give money back from coupons.

Q: Is there a limit to how many coupons I may use in one transaction, so long as I have one coupon for each purchase?

A: The only limit as to how many coupons you may use is that stated on the coupon itself.

Again, thank you for contacting BJ's Member Care. As always, we appreciate you choosing BJ's for your shopping needs.

    Sincerely,
    DEVIN R.

the bold font is the area that I am confused about, especially the wording here

it's a little tricky i think because Im interpreting it as as long as the coupons dont exceed the retail price I can stack them. Am I reading this wrong?

I think what it is saying is that is a multi-pack has 4 "individual for sale" items inside that each have a barcode then you would be able to use 4 coupons(one for each barcode), however IF using the value of the 4 coupons is greater than the total price of the item, then they will not allow you to get overage.

did this policy change anytime within say five months or so? This part always confused me as well, and every time I asked, I was told the same thing....

You can only use one manufacturers coupon per item in a multi pack if each item in that multipack has their own visable barcode. Such as some juices with the plastic carry things, some salad dressings, etc. Seeing that, I was like, sweet.

Amazing how well they can hide all those barcodes lol.

Using ziplock bags as an example they come packaged in a box, inside is four boxes of ziplock bags, each with it's own barcode...which I use when asking at the store, I could use one manufacturers and one store coupon on one box. I could not use four manufacters and one store coupon, which as I read what's written above, would be the case. (the four barcodes are not visable).

Now I'm REALLY confused. Not even sure I explained that well lol.
I'm back!.....Back to basics, and the land of the living!

What if the bar soap has codes inside and you find out after you pay?

    Sorry but BJs policy stinks.

Yes, it is 1 manufacturer coupon per barcode. I checked my package of soap and it does NOT have individual barcodes on it. However, my shrinkwrapped shaving cream does, and I was able to use 1 manufacturer coupon per barcode on it, plus a BJ's coupon. What brand of soap has the barcode?

I recommend taking the coupon policy with you and speaking to the manager before shopping. The coupon policy on there website is pretty clear.
