Big Y Discontinues Self Service Checkout

Heard on the CT news last night that BIG Y will be closing all their self service check-out lanes as their surveys found that a majority of BIG Y customers prefer human interaction when checking out at the store. The news channel I was watching did their own informal survey and found that 57% preferred the self check-out. I wonder what the real deal is?

Huh! I haven't heard anything about that around here. There is only one Big Y store nearby that does self checkout.
