Hi, all. I'm fairly new to all this. I coupon, but have just made my first binder. I really love it , but am still tweeking it. I shop at Big Y, but also Stop and Shop. I also live in Massachusetts. I have two 20-year-olds at home and work 2 jobs trying to make ends meet and can't wait to get better at couponing. I just get some money off right now and would love to see how people get their totals down to small amounts. The best trip I've ever had so far is a $220 trip that I ended up paying $108 for. Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!!

    Hi Tacl!
    welcome! glad you joined us.
A couple things to help save money: make sure you are not brand loyal (on most things-you can have a couple favorites!) many times it is cheaper to get brand name, on sale with a coupons, but sometimes the store brand is a better deal.
When you see a really great deal (free or almost free) buy a bunch and stockpile, but don't overspend your grocery budget doing it! Put back a few things you were going to buy but don't really need.
Once you have a stockpile of freebies you'll be able to cut back more money because you won't have to buy as much...
Making a meal menu plan really helps cut a grocery bill. Figure out as many meals with what you have at home, then plan some meals with what is on sale.
At Big Y take advantage of their Buy 1 Get 2 free sales espically on meat or vegetables like onions and potatoes (that store well). You often can get freebies with their dollar doublers. I also look on Sunday and Wednesday nights for markdowns in meat and produce. You can still use coupons on these things (example: Olivia's Organics salad mix, marked down to $1 or $1.25, printable coupons are often $1 or $1/2) Your store might markdown on different days, this is what mine seems to do!
