Bi-Lo and Winn-Dixie Agree to Merge

BI�]LO AND WINN�]DIXIE AGREE TO MERGE - BI-LO

Greenville, S.C. and Jacksonville, Fla. - December 19, 2011 BI-LO, LLC and Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. today announced that the companies will merge to create an organization of approximately 690 grocery stores and 63,000 employees in eight states throughout the southeastern United States.

I wonder how this will affect the coupon policies of these stores. We don't have a Winn Dixie anymore (my current favorite BI-LO is in their old building) ad i didn't coupon back when they were here so I don't know what Winn Dixie's coupon policies are at all.

let's hope this will change for the good. maybe this will help them both earn more revenue overall and possibly start improving the crappy stores that they have now and maybe build a few more in locations that don't have either of them.

win dixie left our area about 5 or 6 years ago, maybe more. they did not keep up with maintenance at all and became very run down and low quality. but we shall see what will become of this. if it keeps people in their job then I am all for it! go bilo!

When Winn Dixie was in the Charlotte, NC market they did not double, but none of the stores did at that time. Hopefully, they'll keep BiLo's coupon policies.

Winn Dixie used to double down here, til about 2003 I believe is when they stopped altogether. Would be nice if they brought back doubling!

After hearing of the merge, I was glad to see Bi-Lo doubles coupons. This would be great if they did this down here in Florida. Crossing fingers in the LOND.

Bi-Lo varies their doubling policy based on where the store is located. For instance, around here where Harris Teeter doubles to 99 cents, so does Bi-LO, but in markets where other stores only double to 50 cents, those BI-LOs just double to 50. I'm thinking if no stores in the area doubled then BI-LO wouldn't either. :(

That sounds about right!
Our Bi-Lo's double up to 60c where as Publix doubles up to 50c and Food Lion doesn't double at all.
Back when Winn Dixie was around they would have "special" where they would triple up to 50c but the norm was double up to 99c. In this area something happened between Winn Dixie and BiLo , Winn Dixie stores closed and some transformed into BiLo's. At that point is when the triples went completely away but they went to double up to 60c.

Before Winn Dixie left town years ago, we had 3 Bi-Lo and 3 Winn Dixies.
Now we have 3 Bi-Lo.
One of the Bi-Lo moved down the road about 1.5 miles and now occupies the old Winn Dixie location. One of the other 2 Winn Dixie locations became a Compare Foods. They sell name brands and fresh meat but do not double and do put limits on like coupons.
The other one is still vacant, or made into several retail stores.
Winn Dixie won't return to our city.
