I mostly shop at Bi-lo and I have never seen them give overage. I do know that their policy states the double coupon amount cannot exceed value of item, so that to me means no overage or no coupons accepted over items price.
So Herbal Essences and Aussie products are 2/$5 I had two manuf. q's:
$1OFF Any Herbal Essence or Aussie Product and;
$3OFF Any Herbal Essence or Aussie Styler when you buy one Herbal Essence or Aussie product
So the cashier wouldn't let me use the $3 off coupon because it would have left me with a .50 credit. I let it go because I was unsure but was this correct?

that makes sense but since the coupon's were over .60 I didn't think it was a problem, especially since I was buying other groceries too. i'm not even sure if she rang the coupon or not to check to be honest.
Normally Bi Lo adjusts coupons like that to the amount of the product to avoid overage. In a case like that I would encourage the cashier to try scanning it to see if it would adjust.

Thanks Katane I will keep that in mind for next time.
My BiLo does not allow overage, however the register will adjust to the amount and still let you get it for free.
