SONIC cherry limeade copycat

I googled this because I got tired of spending money at SONIC.

Pour 2 tbsp grenadine (I found this in Kroger for $2.50 with the wine)
Squeeze 1/3 of a lime and drop it in the glass
Fill your cup with as much ice as you want
Add a 12oz can of sprite
Drink it.

My husand and I add and subtract to it and we have found that it tastes the same or better. I hope this is okay to post here and I hope it saves someone some money.

Is the grenadine what gives it a cherry flavor? Or does it just make it red.

What is Grenadine?

Awesome recipe! I still love shirley temples from childhood - 7up and grenadine - the lime will make a great addition!

If you ever happen to purchase Marichino cherries you can take the liquid from the cherries in the jar and put it in a saucepan and reduce it in half over medium low heat to get a nice cherry flavored syrup. We do this to Coke and 7 Up to make our own better flavored Cherry Cokes and Shirley Temples. I imagine this would work well in Cherry Limeaids as well (yum). I never thought that store bought grenadine was very cherry flavored.

You're right in my opinion the grenadine is not very cherry flavored. We always have marachino cherries in the house so sometimes we use that juice. Thanks for the tip I'll keep it in mind and stop giving the take away joints my husband's $$$.
