I was thinking about buying some powdered milk to use in baking and cooking. The days of cheap milk are gone for a while I think for me so any way to cut some costs. Plus having some on hand for emergency purposes is a good idea I think.

I use powdered milk all the time in baking. Instead of mixing it up, I simply add the powder with my dry ingredients and use water instead of the milk.

You can make Home Made hot cocoa with it.
10 cups dry powdered milk
4 3/4 confectioners sugar (powdered sugar)
1 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1 3/4 cups non dairy creamer.
In a large mixing bowl, combine milk powder, confectioner's sugar, cocoa powder, and creamer. Stir till thoroughly combined. Store cocoa mixture in an airtight container. Makes about 15 cups mix, or enough for about 45 servings.
For 1 serving, place 1/3 cup cocoa mixture in a coffee cup or mug, and add 3/4 cup boiling water. Stir to dissolve. Top with dollop of whipped cream or a few marshmallows, if desired.

Yep! My kids LOVE this! I have given it for Christmas gifts, nicely packaged up with a nice note, for teachers, too.
you can make PB balls. Mix it with Peanut butter and then roll in confectioner's sugar.
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. powdered milk
1/2 c. honey
Blend all ingredients together (preferrably with hands).
They are good, just mix the honey & PB together before you let kids have a whack at mixing these!
Roll into balls the size of large marbles and refrigerate.
