BBBY has not filed for bankruptcy. I think the title of this post is VERY misleading.

I find it disturbing that last weekends sales catalog for Linens'N Things in the Seattle Times Sunday edition was still encouraging consumers to buy their gift cards!

snopes.com: Redeeming Gift Cards After Bankruptcy Filings

be valid for much longer.

Bed, Bath & Beyond made $562 million dollars in their last fiscal year, which ended in March 2008. They have over $200 million in cash. Their current ratio is 2:1, which is considered good (this means their short term assets are twice as much as their short term liabilities.)

They have no long term debt.

I don't think they are a candidate for bankruptcy.

I am holding on to my BBB gift cards until I hit a hot deal.

You're right - they're not going to file. One of their primary recruiting positions is their debt-free status. It's a very strong company.

I would imagine a CC warrante after bankruptcy is worth about what one is now:nothing.
They have a horrible track record with the BBB, as I found out when I sent in my barely used Kenwood shelf stereo for servicing and it took them almost three months to be willing to give me a cash refund after loosing my speakers and breaking the antenna further, all over the holidays when I brought it in the beginning of November.

LNT is not closing all of their stores, only 120 of them. Gift cards would still be valid at the stores that are open.
