Play House Project

I wanted to have a separate thread where I could post pictures of the phases of the play house I am working on for DD for Christmas. I figured this would be the right forum.

I got the idea from an etsy page but the lady was selling the house(without the card table or pvc frame) for between $200 and $450...so I said, I can do that.

Cost so far(not including time).
PVC - $17.22
Felt - $31.73
Polyfil Stuffing - had on hand
Thread - had different colors on hand

I still have a bit more felt to pick up. Picked up the last of the felt and some thread in a color I didn't have. Cost me $10.90 so I added that to the total at the top. Money wise it looks like I came in under $50 at $48.95.

I will keep updating my steps and have an approximate for the number of hours once I get it finished.

Stage 1:

Decide what I want to put on the house and how big to make it. I decided on having a window w/flower box and 'pickable' flowers on one side, garden on other side, fruit tree with 'pickable' fruit on the back, and the door w/mailbox on the front. Size wise, the house is a 30x30 square with the corner height being 36 inches.

Stage 2:

Buy supplies

Stage 3:

Build the frame.



Stage 3:

Measure and cut all the felt. I got most of it cut, but need to get some more felt for the one side of the house

Stage 4:

Sew the front of the house. The door opens and will stay closed with velcro. The mailbox opens and I will make letters for "mailing".

I think that is adorable! How creative and thrifty! You could totally sell your plans for it and make $$

Thanks Melli....It is a lot of work, but I think the savings in money and the joy my DD is going to have will make all this sewing/cutting/pinning/figuring out well worth it.

Now to make sure I don't give it to her BEFORE Christmas to appease my excitement.

It's practically a money maker! It has kept you from going to the fabric store ALL WEEK! lol!!!!!!
