HELP I've got a bead question!

My granddaughter loves beads, and she asked for some for her birthday. I got super-lucky and found a big clear plastic bucket of them at Goodwill for $1.99. Most are "pea sized"...some are a little larger. I'm giving them to her this Sunday (two days from now!), and I want to give her some string or something to use to make neckaces and bracelets. I know I'll need some kind of elastic for the bracelets, but what can I use for the necklaces?

Since I'm NOT crafty at all...and avoid the craft stores because I feel like a fish out of water in them...please be pretty specific when you tell me what to get! I want it to be something that looks nice...not just yarn or plain white cotton string. Oh...and I don't have a ton of money to spend on it, either.

    Anyway...HELP!!!! Quickly!!

Check Meijer's craft section...they have a bunch of jewelry making/bead stuffs! They should have some plastic type cord that is used for necklaces.

Hi, I'm not sure if you're anywhere near a Hobby Lobby store or not, but their sales papers pretty much always have a coupon in for 50% of one reg. priced item. Even if you don't have the sales paper usually if you go in the store and ask an employee really nice if they might have an extra sales paper around for the coupon they'll give you one. I used to bead a lot, it's been awhile so I don't remember the exact names od most of the stuff but here are some ideas...a roll of wire (sold in the beading section) it might sound odd but with just a pair of needle nosed pliers and you can twist it into really fun shapes for jewelry after you put the beads on. There's also the stuff that looks like twine I think it's called hemp? not sure that's really fun but might not work with the small beads you mentioned...my all time favorite though is the stretchy roll of string. Comes in various colors and diameters. You can get it pretty cheap for around $2.99-$5.99 and it last forever! Really easy to work with and very strong. just make sure you get a size that your beads will fit on, some of the larger ones won't go through the tiny beads. Also I always prefer the clear as opposed to the colored version. Hope this helps! oh if you don't have a Hobby Lobby store, walmart sells it also.

Thanks everyone for all of your help. I went to Michael's today (I was shopping at the Dollar Tree, and it was right across the street, so it was convenient) and found some of the clear, stretchy stuff. I was smart, and took the 15 year old with me. She knew exactly what I was supposed to buy. Who would have known that she knew?! LOL!!
