Size of a couch throw blanket?

I'm thinking about making some sports themed fleece couch throw blankets as Christmas gifts. What size should they be? I've read 48"x60" and 57"x60" finished.

I think this depends on the person more than anything..someone that is a cold person may want it bigger than someone that wants it just to snuggle with on while watching tv..plus a smaller person dont need it to be the size that a larger person would..

I've seen several throw sizes, even just 55" long. IMO, if this is for an adult, a little larger is better. I hate when my toes are sticking out or I have to crunch up to get under it, LOL.

I crochet a lot of blankets. I generally make throws 60X50 but I've made them up to 70X60...that one was for a friend that didn't know if wanted it for her living room or her twin sized bed.

I crochet a lot too and when I crochet blankets I do them according to the size of the person. For instance my husband and son are very tall and like for the blankets to cover their feet so I make theirs a little longer than average, but for my sister's who are short I make about the size the pattern specifies or shorter.

As far as blankets go the bigger the better in my opinion! I have slept with the same queen sized comforter for 10 years now, it is just the perfect size to snuggle with! I like throw blankets around that size too, I fold them neatly and put them on the back of the couch for lounging around =)
