I took some knitting to our county fair. It was my first time out, and I entered 2 items.

My Fish Hat got 2nd in the hat class, and my lace shawl got an honorable mention in shawls & stoles. Not bad for my first try.

This is a $5 MIR for any Interweave product purchased between now and the end of December. I'm going to try to find their annual Holiday Gift magazine tomorrow!

    Funstuff Re: Knitting and Crocheting

ok i gave up trying big things on the kitting looms... too cumbersome for me... but now a friend of mine loaned me a brother home knitting machine... i tried a scarf for first project...i love the pattern it made using a variegated blue yarn... but i guess i had the tension too tight it rolled up into a log and could not get it to go flat... so i unraveled it and going to try it again... it works up in no time at all... but like the looms you have to make the cables and other patterns by moving each stitch by hand... so i guess i am just lazy heheheheh and frugal... but i am having fun playing with it... has any one used a knitting machine???? i fall back to my old faithful... crochet..i can watch tv and go on for hours... and have an afghan in a couple of weeks... but i do not do intricate patterns.. i do double crochet.. ripple, shell, and a few other patterns that i have made a bunch of so its a no brainer to do... (lazy again!) just posting today to see if any one likes the knitting machines... now things should have slowed down a bit and folks can get to doing some relaxing things....

I knit that afghan out of my scraps and it was so easy and such a fun knit. You should do it.

"I recently got back into knitting, and I am on a hat kick, for the almost instant gratification of it all. That, and cute hats for the kids are stupidly expensive at the stores."

    Those are adorable.
