    Default Craft Advice

SO, I have 2 boxes of fabric, not HUGE pieces but at least a yard and up. I need ideas on things to make. I am in a Moms group at church and every year they host a craft fair to raise money for the group and we in turn give the money to charity. I've only been here 3 months so I have NO idea what this is like or what's usually there. ANYWAY, I am a pretty crafty person but since the baby was born, 8 months ago, I haven't even touched my sering machine (I think it misses me). SO, I am planning on making my DD a 'taggie' blanket. Then I thought about the craft fair. The tables are only $30-$40 depending on the size of the booth and I could find someone to split that with. I'm not expecting to make a ton of money either...I really just want a fun way to use up all this material.

    Things I already make:
Clothes (but that takes time and material I don't think I have)
    Crayon Rolls
    Blankets
    Little Girl Purses

I would love any suggestions! I think the fair is in either Oct or Nov so I have plenty of time to make things (I hope!)

    quilts out of scraps.

fabric headbands with roses or flowers on top (all out of fabric)...you can make them either tie underneathe or use a little elastic on that part

napkins (depending on the material you have) can personalize with needle point or something

You can find patterns for easy little patchwork tote bags.
Or I also second the quilt idea.

You've got some good ideas already--love the dog (don't forget cats too) bed idea.

You could make table runners, with a different fabric on either side so the user could flip the design over and have "two" runners.

How about assorted sizes/shapes of decorative pillows? Something else I've seen that seems popular are plastic bag storage sleeves (made of a sleeve of material, about 16-18" long x maybe 6" in diameter, with elastic at both ends and a strap/handle at one end for hanging).

If you have enough of one design or color (or have 2 that complement each other), you could do small "sets" of things:

--little girl's purse + matching change pouch + matching headband

--2 or 3 small decorative bed pillows + light switch cover done in matching fabric (use modge podge to attach) + tissue box cover (basically, a cloth sack with a squared bottom and drawstring near the top), with new box of tissues inside

-- round or heart-shaped coaster sets (similar to hot pads or potholders, but I think the ones I found at a yard sale have something else inside them along with a thin layer of batting- feels like a few tiny pebbles or something- might be able to find out more with an online search)

--fabric-covered "lingerie" hangers + matching sachets in a calming scent

That's all I can think of right now, but I hope it helps some! :)

ONe of the cutest things I saw at a craft fair was a set of bean bags for tots.
It was a set of 20. Each matching pair was numbered 1 through 10. They could be used for counting, matching, games, etc.

I would love to see someone make "cute" reusable grocery bags! I have thought about cutting up old sheets and pillow cases for this purpose - you could even make each side different. I just get so bored with my store and advertisement ones.

Also someone posted that they made reusable sandwich bags for their kids lunches and I thought that sounded good.

I bought a stuffed house for my dd when she was 1, it was just a cute toy and we could use it for pretend play.

    Bibs

have you seen the frayed fabric flowers? You could use those for scrapbooking, hair bows, necklaces, brooches.

I saw little girls with reversavle spring coats - fleece on one side, cord on the other at the playground and I thought they were adorable!

    Good luck.
