Rice bags (my kids recieved some of these as gifts from their Aunt they just put them in the microwave for a one minute to heat it up and WWAALLAAA its a heating pad! or for them a hand warmer?)

Hope that helps some?? Good Luck

(edit to also add that alligator clip are 50% off this week at Hoby Lobby)

to elaborate on the rice bags...you can also put lavender or camomile (that isnt spelled right) in them so when they are heated up, they smell good too!

Adding to the pet ideas. I think making little cat or dog shirts would be easy.

And another thing I thought would be some decorative fabric liners and put them in baskets...you can usually find wicker baskets at the thrift store for a quarter or so.

Wow- lots of great ideas so far! OP-- are these they type things that you were looking for? If not, maybe we could help more with more info (like type and approx. sizes of the fabric pieces)...

Something else I thought of... draft blockers- the long, snake-like things that are stuffed with something heavy and laid up against the bottom of a closed door to help block cracks where air can get in. Might be a good use for fabric that doesn't seem as pretty but is too nice to toss... :) I've seen all kinds of cute things done with those: from putting googly eyes and a ribbon tongue on one end (to look like a snake), to two half-length ones attached as long "legs" on a homemade stuffed animal or character (stuffed loosely enough that it can "do the splits" against the door).

Check out my avatar-- my sweet tortie Annie is not fond of cameras, so this is an online look-a-like! Ain't she a cutie?

Yes, these are all great ideas! Thank you everyone!!!

They are actually still in the back of my closet, I have to move the junk out of the way, and instead of just move it, I'm slowly organizing it, LOL. My this weekend I should have them out. If it would help, and I think it would, I could take pics of them and post them with appr sizes. I think I'll do that this weekend!

For the smaller scraps, you could make little colorful yo yo's, then glue or sew them on to hair clippy's and/or brooch pins. Quick and easy and hard to resist.
