Default Is there any ideas for using Pringles cans?

I have a few pringles cans and I was wondering if anyone has any clever uses for them? I would like to recycle them by using them instead of putting them in the recycle bin. Any ideas?

I was thinking we used these to make "kaleidoscopes" when I was a kid but I have no idea how you would do that.

Wow. My middle-school kids would love making kaleidoscopes.

I found these directions.
Molecular Expressions: Science, Optics and You - Activities in Optics - Inquiry 8: Binoculars, Periscopes, and Kaleidoscopes

I think I'll pick up some pringles tomorrow.

I saw a site that suggested using them to make candles, or to giftwrap the outside and use it as a piggy bank.

We decopage sp? them and use them we have one on the kitchen counter to hold straws. another holds pens and pencils.

we also made rain sticks with them in scouts it was real easy.
1. decorate the outside any way you like
2. take a piece of cardboard the length of the can and about 4 inches wide fold it according style length wise.
3. slide it into the can.
4. pour rice, into can about 1/4 cup
5. put lid on and tape securely.
tip can back and forth to make rain noise.

I like using these types of cans for storage. If you cover it with a pretty scrapbooking paper you can store all kinds of things in them- buttons, colored pencils, rice or dried beans for the kitchen, etc.

The kids could also make a drag racer out of them. I'll see if I can find a website that details the instructions, but you basically thread a thick rubber band through the center, secure it on one end and put a pencil through the rubber band on the other end. You use the pencil to "wind up" the rubber band and when you set it down on the ground it will roll. You will need a lid for each side though or the racer will spin around in circles. I remember making these in elementary school and they were so much fun. The kids can decorate them any way they see fit and see who can make one that goes the fastest/farthest. You can also make them out of coffee cans or the large powdered drink mix containers that iced tea or hot cocoa come in.

Here's a video of one in action: YouTube - Coffee Can Rubber Band Car

Directions: ZOOM . activities . sci . Can Car | PBS Kids
(These are a little different than how I made mine, but you get the idea.)
