One of our members requested a forum for Food City (TN/KY/VA), not realizing that we already have one, albeit a quiet one. So let's try to get it rocking, starting with a roll call.
If you shop at Food City, please post. If you'd like to talk about your Food City store, and what your favorite and least favorite things about Food City are.. What was your best deal? etc.

East Tennessee here, too!
My best recent bargain was the Peter Pan peanut butter. It was on sale "Buy 1, Get 2 Free", which made it something like 88 cents per jar. I had 17 $1.00 off coupons left, and, when prompted, the cashier rang up each coupon as $1.00. So I made 12 cents per jar!
Another really good recent deal was the Wonder Bread when it was 10 for $10.

East TN! I haven't shopped at FC in a while because it started to get too expensive for me, but since I've discovered couponing, I might be able to go again! I've been going to Walmart. lol

East Tn here too! I did not notice this forum either, but I am really glad to see it. I have shopped FC for years and they have sometimes have some really good deals. What I like about ours the most is that we have 3 here so they are very convenient. Also, I would rather go there because it is a smaller store than Wal Mart. It is a challenge for me to get around in WM right now so I only go there after midnight. It is easier to use the scooters since there are not that many other customers in the store after midnight. LOL I got in on the Peter Pan Peanut Butter deal too. I just wish I had coupons at that time and knew then what I know now. I bought a lot when they were 88 cents, but they are all gone now :( Maybe I should have hid them and only brought out one each week...:) I like most of their generic items too. They also always have items that are value priced that are pretty good. They carry a lot of local items too. I like to support our local vendors. The produce section is ok. I really like the meat department in our stores. The most exciting thing about "my" FC is --- They are finally putting in the gas pumps!! WooHoo Their gas is usually very very competitively priced and I am very excited that they are going to offer the gas at the FC closest to my house.

I'm in Eastern TN also. We just moved here about a year ago and I'm really impressed with out local Food City. I love the local fresh produce and the store manager always seems so friendly and helpful. Actually, everyone working there seems happy and nice.
I really like some of the store brand items also...especially for the price. My favorites are probably the pepperoni in a bag for making pizzas and the store brand Mini-Wheats.
Hello to everyone. I just joined this forum a week or two ago.

Knoxville here. We also moved here about a year ago, but I rarely ever shop Food City. Mine doesn't double coupons but my Kroger does.

Another East TN!!!
I like Food City, but find better deals at Kroger, especially since they double coupons, but FC produce and meat is without a doubt better!!

My Food City doesn't do double coupons either. :-( I agree, the produce at FC is the best...I love all the local produce! I like the meat also. I have found a few really good deals at FC...a few weeks ago they had Laura's Lean Ground Meat (8%) on sale for only $2.99 / lb and I have never seen it on sale at Kroger. They also had blueberries BOGO and they were $3.99. I have lots of blueberry fans in this house. :-) I also always buy their generic mini wheats (29 oz box for $2.99) and generic pepperoni (8 oz for $2.99)....unless of course I see a better sale somewhere else, but I usually don't.
I also really like how Food City supports the community. I know they support the schools alot and also Cub Scouts. Everyone working at mine is really nice and helpful and the baggers bag well. I like all my cold stuff together. ;-) I think Kroger is good too, and is sure a nice change from Wal-Mart!! At least my Wal-Mart. :-)
I always shopped at Kroger when we lived in Indiana and when we moved here we were closer to Food City. I have also started shopping at Kroger (although it is a longer drive) for the 10 / $10 sales and also for their milk. Their milk is by far the cheapest in town and we like it.

I totally missed this one too!!!
Im in SE Ky.
My only grocery options are IGA, FC, Save-A-Lot and WMart.
My DH is the assistant meat manager/butcher. You'd think we would get a discount of some sort. Nope!

East TN! Does anyone know when the new Food City in Tellico Village opens? Ti is in Loudon but right on the edge of Monroe County. The store is beautiful-all brick, very upscale. A lot of residents in Tellico Village really fought to keep it from being built but there is nothing out that way in the form of shopping!
We buy their chicken when it is on sale "in-store" for card holders. Awesome bargain. They also carry a lot of items Wal*Mart has dropped. Wal*Mart has raised their prices so much we do more of our shopping at Food City!

I live in East Tennessee too. We just moved here two years ago and it was either Food City or Food Lion for us. Food Lion is way too expensive and Food City has some great deals especially on their brand or Valu Time brand products. We get all our meat and produce at Food City and then everything else we only get there if it is cheaper than Wal-Mart but since Food City is so strict with coupons, we usually find better deals at Wal-Mart.

East Tennessee here too. And I was always a Food City shopper, but stopped going there since I started couponing, because they give me such a hard time with the coupons I get offline, it wasn't worth the arrgument with the cashiers and managers there. I rather got to Kroggers, better prices and happier cashiers.

I'm in East Tennessee also. I really like Food City, but I don't go there nearly as much since they don't double coupons like Kroger. Kroger seems to have more sale items also (or at least more sale items I want!) :-)
On the other hand, Kroger is about 20 minutes away and Food City is only 5 minutes away, so I often go there for fresh produce and meat. They also have Laura's Lean ground beef for onl $3.99 / lb whereas it is $5.49 at Kroger. It rarely goes on sale and I even more rarely have a coupon for it.

I shop the West Knoxville Food City. I've been searching for a blog to find FC deals and can't find anything. I'm hoping this site helps. I get some pretty good deals with the fuel buck items, but most of my coupon-ing is done at Kroger. I also buy alot of organic items and the Full Circle brand is a Food City brand and is included in the fuel buck deal. It helps to have a FC gas station 5 miles from my house, I think they are few and far between.

Is this forum still going? I am in E. Tn. and shop almost exclusively at Food City. Might change now that I found this site and am learning how to use coupons.

Wow East Tenn. Here as well, Guess that makes us a Majority doesnt it. We hit FC at least once a week depending on what the sale is. Saw someone mentioned the Peter Pan PB wonder how long ago that was I must have missed it, I try to stock up on that when I can even if I have to settle for the store brand. Recently had the kellogs $5 instantly with select items and then $10 mail in. We paid I guess after the rebates and using a few coupons .75 per box on cereal. I have a friend who consistantly wears it out with coupons I can spend $100 on a shopping trip she will spend $35 for the exact same things still cant figure out how she does it so easily.
