Homeland's ad comes out every Wednesday and runs until the next Tuesday. I will match up the ad with coupons that I know are available and that should be posted on Thursday at the latest. I do not receive the ad before it comes out.

Members Card?
Yes. You do need to have a Homeland card in order to get the sale prices.

Doubling?
Yes. Homeland doubles one like coupon up to one dollar, everything over one dollar is face value. On rare occasions, Homeland will have 2.00 double coupons. Homeland does not triple.
The first coupon is doubled and the rest are good for face value.

More than one transaction?
Yes. You can separate orders and do more than one transaction. There is no limit as to how many transactions you can do in one day. They will all double the first like coupon. I have done up to four transactions, however that was rare. I usually only do two transactions. I have never had a problem and have frequently been told by the cashiers that I am doing things correctly since they only double one like coupon.

Where is Homeland?
Homeland is in Oklahoma and one or two stores are left in Kansas and Missouri. There can be a variation of the ad from the states. The ad that is online is the OK ad.

Internet coupons?
Most the Homelands accept internet printables, however, some have run across cashiers who refuse them or refuse to double printables. It's on a case by case basis it seems.
At my store here in Tulsa, they have always doubled my internet printables, and when they didn't automatically doubled, I questioned the cashier and they manually doubled them.

Expired Coupons?
No.

Overage?
I have gotten overage with coupons on certain occasions. This is how their computers work. Let's say an item is 1.49 regular price. You have a 1/1 coupon. The coupon will scan at 1.00 and double .49. No overage. But, Let's say that same item goes on sale for .99. When the computer scans your coupon, for some reason it still is thinking the item is regular price (I think it has something to do with using the card, but not sure and certainly am not going to alert them to the issue) and therefore the coupon scans at 1.00 and then doubles .49 = .50 overage for you. I always try to figure what is going to give me overage so I don't go negative (yes, I have once and the only thing they did was laugh and give me the .38 - but next time I might not be that lucky!)

Homeland Coupon Policy (http://www.homelandstores.com/Loyalty.aspx) (Found Online)
As part of Homeland's dedication to providing its customers a quality shopping experience at a low cost, we accept valid coupons according to the policy below. These guidelines are subject to change at any time.
General Guidelines
~ Expired coupons, photocopied coupons, or coupons for items not carried in our store will not be accepted.
~ Valid internet coupons will be accepted. We reserve the right to limit or reject internet coupons.
~ The number of coupons cannot exceed the number of items in the transaction, nor can the value of the coupons exceed the current purchase price of the items in the transaction. If the coupon's value is greater than the current purchase price, no cash back will be given and it will not be applied to the remaining balance of the transaction.
~ Customers must pay sales tax as required by state law.
~ Coupons cannot be exchanged for cash or gift cards.
~ Coupons should have a scannable bar code.
~ Coupons must be redeemed for items indicated on the coupon and presented to the cashier at the time of checkout.
~ We reserve the right to limit the number of coupons.
~ Offer good for a limited time only.
Doubling Coupons
~ Manufacturers' coupons with a face value of $1.00 or less will be doubled when customers use their rewards card. Coupons with a face value greater than $1.00 will be redeemed at face value.
~ Doubling is limited to one like-item coupon per family, per day. Additional like-item coupons will be redeemed at face value.
~ The doubling amount cannot exceed the current purchase price of the merchandise. If the doubled coupon's value is greater than the current purchase price, no cash back will be given and it will not be applied to the remaining balance of the transaction.
~ Carbonated beverage, soda pop, cigarette, beer, retailer, in-store, free-item, and coupons stating "do not double" cannot be doubled.
Multiple Coupons
~ Only one valid manufacturer and one valid Homeland coupon can be accepted for the purchase of a single item. If the coupons' combined value is greater than the current purchase price, no cash back will be given and it will not be applied to the remaining balance of the transaction.
Sale Items
~ Valid coupons are accepted for sale items.
~ The value of the coupon cannot exceed the current purchase price of the item. If the coupon's value is greater than the current purchase price, no cash back will be given and it will not be applied to the remaining balance of the transaction.
~ When items are priced at Buy One Get One FREE, one coupon can be used per item, but the net purchase price cannot fall below $0.00 for the items when the coupons are applied. Only one applicable coupon can be doubled. If the coupons' combined value is greater than the current purchase price, no cash back will be given and it will not be applied to the remaining balance of the transaction.

They do not double coupons for "free" items.

In regards to the Wichita policy on coupons at Homeland:

They have updated the policy and it no longer says "Restricted to 5" as it did before. It now states something along the lines of "We have the right to limit the number of coupons."

So it's going to be more YMMV from here on. I used 5 like coupons on a few different products last night without the cashier batting an eye (as I didn't even know the new policy existed until I got up to the counter and read it), but it has officially changed.

This a.m. at Homeland on 23 & McArthur in Bethany they had the Caribou Coffee Granola bars on clearance for .50 and I had .50 coupons. Doubling the coupon it would be .50 overage. I bought other items (milk, eggs, etc) but the cashier wouldn't double the coupon. She said that since the item was .50 and the coupon .50 she couldn't double it. Is this true?

Yes. The policy does state that you can only use a coupon up to the price of the item. However, the cashier usually does not realize this. When he/she does they do not have to double the coupon.

I am sure this coupon is expired and I haven't responded! LOL! It really depends on how the coupon is coded. If the coupon is coded for a free "one" like it should be then when the cashier enteres the price .89 or whatever, it will not double. But if it is coded differently it may double. I do not really understand coding since I always buy what the coupon says but sometimes I try to understand it for doubling purposes. I don't know if that helped you (especially not since I am 2 1/2 months late in my response!) !! LOL

Hi we just moved to Oklahoma and I've never seen a Homeland store before now. I called the store yesterday to ask them if they take internet coupons and they said it's on a case by case basis - does this mean I present them at the cash register and just hope they take them or do I have to take them to customer service to be approved?

Welcome!! Just buy the item and then hand over your coupons. If they don't take it then just tell them to void the item. I have never had a problem. I think the only time you would is if it didn't scan for some reason!! Hope that helped, lmk if you have any other questions!

Welcome!
Are you in the Tulsa or OKC area? Here in Tulsa, they rarely give us grief over internet printables. I usually just don't say anything, and they don't refuse.
You'll find cashiers that are coupon friendly :)
Good luck!

Just a reminder- never hesitate to ask for a rain check if your store is out of the sale item. You just have to go up to the customer service desk and ask. They are good for 30 days from the date issued.

It was brought to my attention today that on the back of the rain checks is a coupon for $ off eggs/milk/bread- it varies from check to check!

Yes, they do.
However- at least at my store, sometimes w/ RC they just type in the product and it shows up as 'grocery', so they will have to manually enter your coupon as well.
Just stay on top of it, and they'll do it :)

Don't you just love rainchecks?! Remember, they expire after 30 days.

Home doubles 1 like coupon per transaction up to $1. At the Kansas stores, which are now closing, they used to take 5 like coupons, but we were never that lucky here in Tulsa, Ok.
I have yet to see a triple coupons special run- but that doesn't mean that there won't be- I just wouldn't count on it.

I have a question about the like coupons....I have two yogurt coupons for the same exact product. One coupon is for .50 and the other one is for 1.00. Does that mean they need to be in two different transactions to get the doubled or tripled?

In my experience of 3 stores located close to me the answer would be "NO" .. as long as the coupons are the different values or cents off. They have always doubled for me..

Example.. 2 weeks ago Orville Redenbacher popcorn was on sale for $1.00 each. I had the following coupons: $1.00/3, $1.00/2 and .40/1 .. I purchased 6 boxes in ONE tranaction.. and ALL of the coupons doubled. Hope this helps.. just try to out at your local store once.. and find out :-)

I agree. I often look at the scannable bar codes on the coupons. If the two are different, they will both double.

It has been my experience that most of my Catalinas I get state "Manufacturer Coupon". In that case, you can't combine with another manu. coupon. However, if you get one that states "store coupon" they CAN be combined! HTH

Some Catalinas are for a generic amount, like $5 off your next purchase. In that case, you can use it with other MCs as long as your total number of MCs doesn't exceed your total number of items.

I saw that Bush's Grillin' Beans are $1.99 regular price at Homeland, so with the $1/1 that will make these freebies! Of course, it might be nice if they go on sale in the next few weeks, and then it may be an overage situation.

WHERE DO YOU FIND THE PRINTABLE COUPONS? i GET THE WEEKLY AD IN THE MAIL, BUT HAVENT FOUND PRINTABLE ONES???

THANKS!!!

Hi everyone! This thread was originally put together by our former mod, Rachael.
I (Sarah) plan to add information to it as it becomes available.

Homeland's ad comes out every Wednesday and runs until the next Tuesday. I will match up the ad with coupons that I know are available and that should be posted on Thursday at the latest. I do not receive the ad before it comes out.

Members Card?

In order for you q's to double you have to use there store card. Plus if the coupons says DND they will not double it.

kellyob86
05-16-2008, 02:17:29 PM
I used the card and all but one q doubled. I know the Bush Beans q said no doubling and the Land O' Frost Taste Escapes lunchmeats said no doubling but there was only one thing that didn't double. On the receipt across fro MC where it usually reads "scanned coupon" it reads "meat". So i thought that maybe no meat q's double. I was trying to figure it out for future reference. I guess i was just lucky that the beans doubled. Thanks again.

P.S. Why would it matter if it says do not double? The manufacturer isn't the one giving you the second discount the store is. Or so i thought. I am new to this double coupon thing. Your help is truly appreciated.

Different stores triple @ different times. The Tulsa store tripled back in March (?- if not march, it was early spring) and some of the OKC stores tripled coupons around Christmas.
There's no set rhyme/reason to it.

Since I am new to shopping at Homeland, I have a few questions and am hoping someone will be kind enough to help out in answering.

Anyone here shop at Weatherford, OK?

This is the nearest Homeland to me. I would like to hear from you concerning your experiences shopping there and what I can expect in the way of policies, etc. I already have the discount card, however not sure what their policies are on doubling coupons, accepting internet coupons, etc. Can you help out?

Some of the questions I have are...

Do I scan my Savings card before or after? I think I read somewhere that it didn't matter?!

When something is on sale 10/$10- do I need to purchase 10 of the item or can I purchase less than ten and if I do will I be charged .10 per item? I guess what I really want to know is- Will the item ring up as .10 each if purchasing less than 10?

After reading several post- I think I now have a better idea of how the doubling of coupons works (as far as getting discounts), however I want to make sure I am clear “before” making my first major shopping trip.

For instance: If I want to purchase several (say 4) of the exact same items and I had 4 exact same coupons (4 x .50/1). When I check out… how will it discount my purchase as far as the coupons go? Am I correct in assuming- It will discount the first item by $1.00 (doubled) and each one after that at .50 each (the original value of the coupon)?

If this is true… in order for me to get the best price on all four of my items I will need to make 4 trips… correct?

I only ask because…

This will be my first time shopping (and using coupons) at the Weatherford, OK store and I want to make sure I have this right before I go shopping?

By the way… I will be using Weekly Ad coupons, Manufacture coupons and Internet coupons. I will mainly be using the Internet printed coupons for now, since I have just started clipping coupons from the Sunday Oklahoman a few weeks ago and am building up my stash.

By the way…. This is a GREAT site!

Hi. I don't shop in Weatherford, but I think I can help you with some of your questions.

The Homeland customer loyalty card is not of too much significance anymore. In the past, you had to have your card scanned in order for your coupons to be doubled and to receive most of the advertised sale prices, but that is no longer the case. The only reason I still have my card scanned is because a couple of the Homeland stores I frequent have "gas" programs where if you spend a certain amount you get a catalina printed out at the register for money off your next fuel purchase at Homeland Express gas stations. If you do have your card scanned, however, it does not matter if it is at the beginning or the middle of the transaction.

If you are purchasing an item that is advertised 10/$10, each item will ring up at $1. You do not have to buy ten items, it is just a marketing ploy. Something similar is true when it comes to their B1G1 free sales. You do not have to purchase 2 items, paying full price for the first, then getting the second for free. With these sales, you can buy only one item, and it will ring up at half price.

Now for the reason we all make multiple trips. Here's an example: This week I want to buy 5 of the Freschetta frozen pizzas that are on the 3-day sale (I have 5 coupons). If I went through with all 5 pizzas in one transaction and used 5 coupons, only the first one would double and the other four would ring in at face value only. However, I can buy 1 Freschetta pizza (use $1/1), 1 Totino's pizza rolls (use $.35/1) and one Kraft singles (use $.75/2) in one transaction and all three of those will double because they are all different. Then repeat that 4 more times to get all five of my pizzas plus the other items I want. The key to maximizing your doubling potential is to check the 10-digit barcode on the coupon. Just because the coupons look different doesn't mean they are different. I have a home mailer coupon for $1/1 Fiber One yogurt 4-packs and also a peelie for $1/1 the same product, but the bar codes are exactly the same, so I have to make sure to only use one or the other during any given transaction. At the same time, I have been getting 3 boxes of Quaker oatmeal in one transaction by using a $1/2 and a $.70/1 in the same transaction. They both double because they are for different amounts.

As far as the internet printable coupons (IPs), that sort of depends on your store. I do not have any trouble with my stores taking printables right now. At one point, one store manager wanted to start refusing them, or at the very least not doubling them. But I pointed out that Homeland's own website has printable coupons linked to it and that put that issue to rest.

Something else to keep in mind is that most Homelands do double the coupons that say "Do Not Double" (the register automatically doubles any coupon whose barcode begins with a 5). However, one of my Homelands has given instructions to their cashiers to override those types of coupons so that they won't double. Again, just depends on your store. If the barcode begins with a 9, the coupon won't double no matter what.

I hope all of this makes sense and that I didn't confuse you further. It's too bad Homeland has so many rules on doubling, but we work with what we have I guess. I know you will enjoy watching your total go down at the register as they enter all of your coupons! Enjoy!

what do you mean by "they only double like coupons?"

Thanks!

If you use more than one of the same coupon in a transaction, their register will not double any of the coupons after the first one. They only double one like coupon per transaction. (There are many stores in other areas that will double 5 like coupons, or even more sometimes, but not Homeland.)

If all your coupons all have different 10-digit bar codes, then they all will double.

I was shopping at the store in on Penn in OKC a couple of days ago with my daughter. She loves to get in on the coupon fun!! I had cash for her transaction and she went in line ahead of me. After her items were totaled the rudest manager hurries over like he has caught a shoplifter and says we cannot split a transaction and that has been their policy for the last year. Funny! The week beore I actually did split the transaction and the cashier not only did it but seemed to like the idea of my daughter paying for it and helped her out. I don't think it is a split transaction when there is another person there with money to pay for it. The manager really upset my daughter and I thought his actions were totally uncalled for even if what he said was right. Has anyone else had this problem? If they did start this policy, when?

Just to clarify, are you referring to the S. Penn store?

Just so you know, I was in there (S. Penn store) and I saw signage to the effect of, "don't ask us to split your order." Stinks. Means I have to go back on other days or send my DH in at a different time.

Thank you for the information indonanci. I hope the other stores do not follow suit.
I am now wondering what constitutes an "order". Couldn't we make a purchase, take it out to the car, and then come back in to make another one? Wouldn't that be 2 seperate orders? Of course, one could argue that sweetcorn and her daughter had 2 seperate orders too. I just don't know that it would be worth the humility to argue the point at the store. I do think that I would contact corporate if my children were not allowed to make their own purchase.

I would call corporate about this issue. I always do two transactions at a time at my local store. My cashiers never complain or say anything in fact they are more than happy to do it so that you can get your max coupon value. Corporate would probably not be happy to learn that this store is turning away businesss.

Hi! Yes it was the South Penn store. This happened again the other night with my sister who had her daughter in another line with only one item. The cashier actually took the coupon up to the manager and tried to complain. This is very frustrating and embarrassing. If they don't want to double the coupons don't offer it. That is why we are starting to shop at other Homeland locations that are much nicer to deal with.

I would complain to corporate about the store and also about the cashier(s) that's scructinizing every coupon and transaction. That's ridiculous that they are just mad that we are saving money. Really, what's the big deal to him??? He still gets paid whether you you coupons or not.

I avoid at all costs one particular cashier at the Expressway store, he's a major PITA. I've had nothing but good luck and great cashiers at the Rockwell and 122 store!!! I also had a really great cashier at the Yukon store at Chech Hall and I-40! She didn't know she could get coupons right from the HL site, so she was extra excited!

I was at the Haysville Homeland today, and the manager told me that I could not use a get a free box wheat thins coupon when you buy a Ritz, and my dollar off a box of Ritz at the same time. I explained that I was using one coupon for the wheat thins and one for the Ritz,2 items,2 coupons. He said that he has worked there 20 years and that they have never allowed it,I asked if that was Homeland policy, and got no answer. Is it policy?

I was able to use those 2 coupons just like you were trying to do twice last week. I think we are all learning is that YMMV depending on which side of the bed these cashiers AND managers woke up on that day.

It's frustrating that they are so inconsistent across the board.

Really, one coupon is for the Ritz and one is for the FREE wheat thins. That happened to me last week I had a coupon for Wholly guac and another coupon for $3 of chips WYB wholly guac. The cashier told me I couldn't use both and I said, one is for wholly guac and one's for chips. They hate being told they are wrong, but it felt so good to be right!

I go to the Haysville store too. Billie was my cashier (pathetic I know their names... :giggle2:) and I was using two coupons just like you, but for Kellogg's cereal. She wouldn't let me use the second one. So I decided not to get either one. She said that she didn't think it would go through, but she tried it anyway. I hate to try again now with the Ritz, and tell them to take it off. When I told her I didn't want either one, she said "You're total is $3.45" I said "I know, but if I can't use my q, I don't want them." So, my total went down to .64! I think I confused her... :whistle67:

IPs are manufacturer couons too. Maybe referring to them not doubling store coupons??? IDK?

Any good sales? I can't believe you already got your ad, Mine never comes until Monday.

I seen that french mustard will be a freebie, and hefty trash bags for $1.99(not free but good for me)Mt olive dill pickle chips for 99,I found blinkies at Dillons, but they say DND ...not sure the blinkies are for 75 cents,so would be nice if they would make them free. The pace is 99 so if you have coupons could be free and the ritz toasted chips are 2/$5 so if you have the IP ones from Kraft makes thm 50 cents,oh and Raisen bran will be free if you have any of the $1 coupons from coupons.com from awhile back. Thats all that caught my eye.

What is the homeland website, so that I can register?

Are there ever ads ahead of time?

The Country Mart store in Lawton uses that same ad as Homeland. Is it considered a Homeland store?

The ads used to be mailed out ahead of time, just like other local grocery stores. However, since the website has changed, I, personally, have not received an ad in the mail, AND the ad isn't up on the website until Wed's now.
