:encourage6:I challenge you to add at least 10 minutes(more) of exercise to your daily routine. It may seem like a small amount of time, but as everyone knows, life gets hectic, and even 10 minutes can make a difference.

:dance3:
It can be any kind of activity that gets you moving - walking around your office, playing with the kids, doing squats while you watch tv.

I personally have been doing a little step aerobics routine everytime I go outside at work for a dreaded ciggarette break(yes I know that is another challenge I must deal with). Over the course of the day I have been doing a total of about 20 minutes worth of exercise.

:encourage7:So get out there and move those bodies!!!You can do it!:BigHand: (Do I sound enough like Richard Simmons lol:hysterical:)

It's my new thing... now if I can only figure out what to give up for lent....

If I add 10 minutes of exercise daily that would bring my total daily exercise to 10 minutes. Is that bad? LOL

Hey! Who are you calling a psycho?? Who have you been talking to?
:hysterical::hysterical:

"Move it shoppers, I'm exercising here!!! And collecting peelies." It could be a whole new exercise fad. "And bend and peel, and bend and peel" Why not?

Cuz-I'm with you right now unfortunately. I have got to get back into my Y routine! I was going at least 4 times a week, sometimes 5 for an hour of pilates or an hour Zumba class. Now I'm doing nothing!

Great job! As soon as the weather gets a little nicer here, I figure my dog will be my reason to walk. I feel bad she's been couped up all winter so I will force myself to walk whether I want to or not.

:hysterical::hysterical: Hey, I'm only about 10 minutes ahead of you then LOL. I haven't been doing anything so my little step routines have been an accomplishment for me. I hope noone is looking out there windows at me LMAO (I do it in the back parking lot at work.)

We are having Amy's indiv pizza and salad. Can't wait. (it's 10 points but I've been pretty frugal this week)

I'm in! I am feeling so blah this winter, being cooped up inside. So I am going to uncover the treadmill in the basement, and go run while DS is napping!

Also, we finally got DVR again (yay!), so I can record my favorite exercise show: Denise Austin Fit & Lite (I sometimes turn down the sound when her perkiness gets on my nerves, LMBO).

Great job everyone. Keep up the good work.

Question for anyone who has used an at home stepper. I bought one of those steps from Walmart that come with a basic step DVD, but my house is all carpet with the exception of the kitchen, so it kind of slides forward when you step up on it. I'm afraid I'm going to fall off.

I dont feel like spending $50 for a mat to put underneath so I bought one of those yoga mats, kind of styrofoam(spelling?) material, hoping that will keep it from sliding, but I haven't tried it yet. Anyone else done this or have an idea?

mama,
Keep up the good work! I wish I could get that into walking. I did discover a new way to exercise at home with an almost 2 year old though. She has some gross motor delays and she's got short stubby legs and a big torso so we've been working on building up her strength in her legs so she can climb. So our new thing is taking the couch cushions off and using the exercise mat folded up so she's got a bunch of different surfaces to walk/dance on. Well turned in to mommy doing "step aerobics" on the exercise mat the other day while we had the music on. So for half an hour I did stepping while she toddled around. It is fun.

Today, we got to the park again so took a nice walk around so she could see the duckies and the swan that was there. But not much of a fast paced walk with her in tow. I'm just glad that it's finally warming up so we can be outside!!!

Hi there

Join on in! Each week on Mondays usually we have a thread to post our progress in the weight loss department. We have been doing RAOK's too to the person who has the highest % loss, just ending one contest this week so you are starting at a good time.

I hear you on the eating. I can do great during the day when I'm busy. But at night when i sit down to relax a little, the appetite demon comes out!

The only thing that helps is keeping busy. And drinking water.

Tennis sounds like so much fun. Maybe I could get a racket and hit the ball against the house? I miss playing volleyball.
Bro gave me golf clubs but backyard isn't long enough. I'd like to hit that ball to the moon! I line up 6 balls, hit them and luckily the dog won't bring them back, lol, makes me do all the exercise!
Looping resistance band around basketball goal pole, that helps. Hope to have these flabby arms in shape soon. I need the leg extender tho.

Wow, thanks for the applause. And here I am falling down on the job for the last two days. :shrug7:

As for the progress, I have only lost about 6 pounds. Lol, I am not quite as commited to my diet as I am my exercise plan. I have noticed a lot of difference in my energy level and what I can do thru the day, esp on the days that I do walk. So, I plan to just keep slugging away at it, til I get where I want to be. :wavehi:

6 pounds is awsome!! That's 6 more pounds that you lost instead of 0 if you weren't doing anything! Congrats, and keep up the work!! Also, have you tried anything else besides walking? Since it's so nice out here, I'm going to start riding my bike more, and rollerblading around on my lunch breaks. I need to constantly change up my routine because I easily get bored, lol.

Right now I'm just walking. Once I get to where I am walking 4/5 miles every day, I would like to start doing some strength training. But for now, just walking, walking... And BTW, thanks for helping me to get re-motivated.

I know what you mean. I could feel it in my knees this morning, but
that is because I have been doing a LOT of sitting. Oh yeah, and I have ..
um......a LOT of extra weight. Well, we all have to just keep on keeping on
and get rid of as much of the extra weight and the knee pain and other

MamaVader, you are awesome and an inspiration!!!! I'm just getting started again, but starting today, I'm going to join you in posting my workout. I'm hoping to do some kind of planned daily physical exercise. Some days will be more some less.

Today, I did 2 miles with the walk at home dvd and did the full bean workout (that sounds like it should involve flatulence :giggle2:but it doesn't). It's like the exercise balls but shaped more like a kidney bean. It is supposed to be good for the back.

I think it might be. I've used it three times and my abs are so sore. For me that's the sign of a good workout. It's very low pace and the dvd is broken down into 5 or 6 different types of workouts with the longest being 7 minutes. I did all of the workouts today with no problem but I could really feel the pull in my abs especially. It's pricey and really big compared to a ball so storing it is a pain but it is also really easy to inflate/deflate so if storage is an issue you could just flatten it after every use (it comes with a pump). So far I'm liking it.

Thanks, Latte. I appreciate the support. I know what you mean about the scale. I used to be that way, I'm not sure why I got over it. I only like the scale because it gives me something visual to mark progress. My concern is that some weeks I might not show any loss on the scale but know that my clothes are looser because I've gained muscle. Not seeing it on the scale has always kind of freaked me out. I'm just going to try to keep a healthy head about the whole thing but no promises.

Good for you all this walking!

I try to get in 20 - 30 minutes (set program) on the bike 4 days a week and do some ab, arm and leg work (I have something wrong with my foot so I'm off the treadmill). I'm down 27 lbs. so far this year. Taking it slow - last time I lost a lot in a short amount of time (40 lbs. in 6 mo.) I gained it all back over the next 2 years.

So, this am, 20 mins on the bike.

:hectic1: I think I can I think I can I think I can!!!!!!!!!:hectic1:

Just ventured down to a different part of HCW. Glad I did! I actually walked for the first time in awhile today and I feel much better.

Today I walked 2 miles... not fast, but I made it!
