Update 11/01:
The coupon policy doc is nearing completion. I'll fill in the holes tomorrow morning. If you notice discrepancies between the doc and your actual experiences let me know so I can update and/or call again. There are stores in OH and IL whose ads and policies have virtually no similarities but I will see about doing matchups if people request it. I have started a new thread with more details.

The highlight of all my calling today was definitely with the Eden Prairie store. They accept expireds up to 5 months and are a franchise location. Baxter is 4 months.

All others were 3 months or less. One of the St Cloud stores was definitely the lowlight as the girl couldn't definitively answer anything. When I asked for a manager I was put on hold then hung up on. :shrug7:

Google Docs - Cub Coupon Policies (http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=piwHDL6MUnFXwuzU57MLwWw)

Here's some info I've thrown together so far.

Official Store Website
Redirecting... (http://www.cub.com/) or Redirecting... (http://www.cubfoods.com/)

Cub publishes their weekly ads online. Just enter your zip code here.
Specials and Savings (http://www.cubfoods.com/siteLiteWeb/SiteLite.do?action=getStaticContents&target=getCubSpecialsNSavingsPage)

Cub Foods does not match competitor’s prices or accept competitor’s coupons.

Every single Cub store I asked about rainchecks said the cashiers or CS desk provide them if you ask. I've noted tebar's issue with the Coon Rapids store in the doc. If anyone else reports issues with rainchecks I will call all the stores specifically about it.

As a general rule Cub stores accept Internet Printable manufacturer’s coupons in b&w or color and they also take manufacturer’s coupons up to 3 months (90 days) past their expiration date. See the doc for the exceptions though. I only asked a couple stores about the manu q's in the Cub ads, it was very hit and miss but surprisingly some stores do accept them w/i their expired policy. This is one of my questions I'll be asking in my next round of calling. In the meantime I would suggest asking first as some definitely do not.

Cub offers $.01 off gasoline purchases for every $10 spent, before store and manufacturer’s coupons. In the Twin Cities area I think most stores have partnered with Holiday for this and I don’t know how long it will continue. At the moment Cub is advertising that you can use up to 3 of these q’s in one fuel purchase on up to 12 gallons. I believe each q is limited to $.30 off.

A few Cub stores have their own pumps called Cub Fuel Express. There is one in Cambridge, Brooklyn Park, and Mankato that I know of. These stores use the same $.01 per $10 before store and manufacturer’s coupons but have higher limits. You can use up to 5 coupons in one fuel purchase on 15 gallons instead. The pumps have built in scanners so I believe they plan to keep this permanently. I believe each q is also limited to $.30 off.

Here are a few ways to contact Cub customer service.
The “unofficial” number associated with the mailing address below is (651) 439-7200

You can use their email form (their preferred method, I am unsure of their response time though)

coupon pocket...that's too long, would you be offended if I called you CP?
(I promise I won't add a 3 to the beginning and a O to the end.)

On a diff board I read that Cub may be taking other stores catalinas. Have you heard anything about this?

Oh, and I forgot to add, I love that you color coded the coupon rules for the unusual stores. It's nice to just whip down the list see there's some stores that I am not going to go into!

lol, nah wouldn't bother me.

I have a couple RRs from Walgreens that I'll take with me tomorrow and I'll see what I can find out. I would guess unless this is new corporate policy that it will be YMMV. A good way to guage this in any store will probably be whether or not they take expired Manu q's from their weekly ads.

Honestly color coding them helped me get through the list.
I'm glad I know where not to go as well.

Always check the red/silver coupon kiosks. The deals seem to be improving each week. $1 off LOL milk when they have it -- works for me!

Since the St. Cloud stores are my closest cubs, I called them. *Unofficially*, if its a day or 2 expired they will(YMMV) take them, but nothing like 90 days.

I've never asked in Shakopee, but I have used expired IP with no problem. I even used some expired Free Flat Earth IP and no one batted an eye.

UHHH, slight error here. the store in St Paul off 94 is the Midway store (on University). The store on Robert St(no "s") is in West St. Paul closest to HWY 52. I shop at the West St Paul store and they have taken every single coupon I have ever given them, including IP, and I have given them up to 4 months expired. The ladies that work during the day are GREAT.

I don't know about the Mankato store but I thought it was all manufacters q's, NOT CUb q's.
I do know that depending on which cashier I have it changes from 3 months to 6 months on the expiration. I personally don't give them ones older than 4 months and have never had any problems. I shop the West St Paul store.

I shop at the one on Riverfront and they take expireds for sixty days. They use to do ninety. I no longer shop at the one on Madison AVenue because I heard they no longer take expireds period.

I forgot to add that it is manufacturer's coupon or Cub Catalinas that spit out of the register that you can use expired (not any store ads or booklet ads that have expired).

Thanks OP for posting this. Really helpful!

You mean like ahead of time? They do have the ads the start of each sale on their web site at cub.com. It's funny because the twin cities starts their sales on Sundays, and Mankato on Tuesdays. So if you want a few days headstart, just look up the ads on Sunday with Minneapolis zip code 55455 and then you can see what is coming up on that Tuesday.

Thanks so much for the helpful information. I live in Duluth and didn't know that my store took expired coupons. I did email corporate last summer regarding IP's. Every time I called the Duluth store they said they didn't take them. The VP in charge of marketing emailed me back. He stated that they did take IP's. I printed his email and took it with me to the store. The cashier wasn't sure about the IP coupons until he read he email. He thanked me for showing it to him and said it cleared up a lot of questions.

okay i have emailed them 3 times now and have gotten no response each time...i have asked both of my stores if they take expireds and i get "uuuuhhh i have never taken them" and that is coming from the service desk clerk...
i have a friend that has worked there and she said that she was told that if the customer pushes the point , they do take them but they dont let everyone know this
but if i had their coupon policy, i could show it to them. and then maybe i could get a better answer than "uuuhhh" from the service counter

thanks

I believe each store has their own guidelines with expired coupons. Last year Coupon Pocket posted a spreadsheet of Cub stores that detailed the stores acceptance policies. Most of the stores on the list are in Minnesota, but there are several stores listed from other states as well.

If you don't find your store on that list, I would call your store and speak to the manager. Not all of the employee's may be in the know.

I called a bunch of the ones listed in the google doc to see if their policies have changed. There were a number of them that are listed in the original document that now take IPs and didn't before. Like ilovemychaos posted, each store is different and not all employees are aware of the policies. Some Cubs are franchise stores, so they in a sense make their own policies.

As a side note on the employees knowing the policies, I went there the other night and the cashier was having trouble with a coupon. She said, "Oh, I know why it's not working! It's expired. We don't take expired coupons." I asked her to call the manager and the manager affirmed my statement that they take them up to 3 months. It was news to this cashier! So, call the service desk and write down the person's name who gives you the info. That will help you when you're at the checkout.

So far my Cubs have taken expired coupons and internet printables (Maplewood and White Bear Township.) Found out that the Coon Rapids Cub takes internet printables but only up to $1. I found that out when I tried to use the Ben and Jerry's and Robitussin internet coupons.

i looked at that list...peoria illinois is listed as not taking expireds...

i was just hoping that cubs had a coupon policy that was on their site or i could get a copy of....i get the same answer from the service desk "uuuuhhh i dont think so"
ill try tomorrow and see if i can get a manager on the phone...

i dont want to just take them in and stand in line, the ones i want to use are winetags and they normally beep...and i dont want to get some poor cashier in trouble for taking expireds if they dont take them...

I spoke with corporate on this topic the other day. Each Cub is different, but according to corporate, they should be taking IPs in black/white or color and take expireds, but most determine the time frame to accept expireds. I'll do some checking for you today to see if it can be clarified for your store.

The 33rd Ave Cub "West" in St. Cloud IS taking IP's for ".50 or $1 off - things like that - as long as they have the "veri-fi" code."

I'd say its a YMMV but today she sounded like they will take most IP's - they are touchy, though.

The Saint Cloud Cub Foods that is over by Walmart (not sure which address that is) does NOT take expireds at all. They do however take ips, and will manually type them in even if they don't scan. My best friend is one of their CSMs, so I htought I'd ask her!

Hi "Cubbies"
Can I call you that? I am not one (Meijers only) but I have a firend in Minneapolis who knows nothing about this and I am trying to help her get started. She's a Cubbie. I have read your posts and have answered many questions (thanks!) but could you tell me if Cub stacks store and Man coupons? and do they double? I would really appreciate not having to search this out (I'm kinda new too-just a few months into this). I am saving so much money and I'm so thankful for all the help from so many of you!

Hi Julia, yes you can stack store and man Q's. they do not double. some stores are very picky some are not. If you list what store she usually shops you might get some tips for that particular store. glad to help.

I have an update for the 1800 Madison Avenue store in Mankato - They take up to 3 month expired (may not include IP expired Qs).

I gave a 5 day expired IP Q for V8 Fusion and the cashier called over one of the managers. She asked if IP Qs fell into the same 90 day expired policy. I looked straight at the mgr and asked if they had bumped it up since I was sure it was 30 days. He said it is something that they don't really want to tell people. He then told the cashier to scan the IP. The cashier joked with the mgr that if she gets in trouble for this one, that she would come after him for allowing it. I joked along and said that they can come after me for the $4.00.

Excited to know they take 90 days!

I think Cubs is ridiculous when it comes to their coupon policies!! :shrug7:

You are not alowed to combine a man. coupon with a penny pincher/store coupon.

Also, many times they've limited me to using only 2 like coupons per visit. Depends on the cashier though.

And I think their LOW limits on items listed at a special sale price is dumb too!!

You'd think they would want to compete better with Kroger, Meijer and Schnucks, that double their coupons AND let you get as many as you like. I know at Meijer you can only get 2 like coupons doubled per order, but they don't scold you OR tell you "no" when you do multiple transactions in order to get all your coupons doubled.

And it's not that I don't understand needing to place limits on some items, but come on...only allowing us to get 1 or 2? It's not worth the savings just to drive there for just 1 or 2 good deals/items. If it were like a limit of 4 or 6, that would actually be worth it in my book! :wink7:

I think Cubs should take some lessons from the other stores...my couponing friends and I RARELY shop there because of all these things - which means we are giving the other stores extra business on all the other products we need but don't have coupons for. They are definitely losing a lot of $$ by setting such strict coupon rules!!

That said, I'm game for trying out the buy $25 in the listed products get a $5 OYNO coupon and $20 mail in rebate, but I'll bet they won't let me use all my 5 B1G1F coupons for the velveeta shells cups, probably only 2...so I'm going to have to go prepared with other coupons for some of the products listed in case I need to substitue 6 of those cups for something else.

Last week I went to the Roseville, MN Cub and used a couple internet coupons for Campbells soup. I checked out at the service counter because I was in a hurry and only had a few items. The lady working said that my internet coupons were "not real" which confused me, she elaborated and said that "the coupons are not real because they would make the soup free". Now I see based on the Google Doc. that the Roseville Cub does not accept internet coupons so that explains it. Until I read this post, I was confused by her wording that the coupons were "not real" especially after she let me use them this time but said it would not work in the future!
