I am one of "those" people
who has a fabulous metabolism
and is as sedentary as is possible,
so I am "scrawny, yet soft"

My DH needs to lose about 60 pounds this year,
so together we are going to try to get fit.

Walking together is better than nothing, but gets boring, quick.
We tried the Wii here at his brothers house, and it's fun; so we are hoping to get one to break the monotony.

Today: Cleaned house ALL DAY! :hectic: I don't have THAT many stairs but going up and down then all day long sure gives you a workout. :giggle2:

Yes i plan to, when there is not so much snow :) I would like to lose a little weight first. I do have that app on my ipod

My 2012 goals:

4. Eat healthier foods
5. Experiment with types of exercises to see what I actually like

My DH and I are trying to be healthier and more health conscience. I did really well last year and then my health was a problem (tonsils). I'm still battling them but I am determined to get back to a healthier weight and maintain it. I have started using the Wii Fit again. It's not going to whip me into shape but it's a start to a routine. I really enjoy the yoga and step aerobics. I just wish they were longer. I have a beginner's pilates video that I did and I really liked that too but even the beginner's was difficult. My DH and I are going to buy a treadmill today b/c we both want to start walking and running but with the cold weather and two small children, we've been having a hard time finding the time to do it. So the plan is to workout after they go to bed. I might eventually work up courage to try morning workouts.

Bought a nice treadmill yesterday. DH used it last night while I did 30 minutes on the Wii Fit. Tonight is my turn. I'm excited!

Does anyone use My Fitness Pal? I just started using it this week and I think I like it. What are your thoughts?

Goals: Loose 20lb this year

1. Eat 1 salad a day
2. Walk the dogs 5 times a week
3. Bake only once a week (ok, I was up to making a batch of cookies a day:whistle67:. Who dosent like warm chocolate chip cookies?)

My fitness goal is to be healthy and if I'm lucky get down to 110.

I'm 128 right now.

I plan on playing fitness games (Zumba, Just Dance 3, Wii Fit Plus) on my Wii.

Trying to workout (hardcore) 3 times a week.

Move everyday. By that, I mean walk, run, dance, etc. just do something 30 minutes a day.

Oh and I'm at my office right now, but yesterday, I met up with my personal trainer and I did core/strength work with her for an hour. Talk about burn! :BigHand:

I have some Bob Harper videos coming. I hope I like them! I need to change up my routine.

My goals for 2012:
1. Reduce diet coke consumption to near zero
2. Lose up to 20 pounds (I think I would be happy with 15)
3. Attempt to determine cause for dark chocolate cravings and find another outlet for them
4. Continue to exercise at least five days a week if I am healthy
5. Do some form of strength training/use weights at least two days a week

I have been trying to walk 30 minutes during lunch (workdays) and have walked the dogs every night since Jan 1 (about 20 minutes). Working on decluttering my bonus room so I can get my treadmill out of an upright position.....

17 minutes on the threadmill DH finally got out for me (his dad gave it to us). I know it is not much but I'm starting slow. Hopefully I be able to do more soon!

Wednesday - Just Dance 2 on the Wii for 60 minutes
Thursday - Walked for 27 minutes, ran for 6 minutes = 2 miles
Friday - ???? 30 day shred or pilates
Saturday - going to be cutting wood all day and yes, I run my own chainsaw! Don't know if my arms or hands are going to be functional after that so Sunday will most likely be a day of rest or using the treadmill.

I have lost 1 pound so far this year. I'll start to believe it when I've lost 5+ pounds b/c I'm not sure if it isn't just water weight.

I spent about 25 minutes on the eliptical today. I had it set on a workout so the resistance was going up and down but I wasn't following the speed I was supposed to. My leg has been numb all day so I wasn't going to try to go fast. I read a book on my phone while I leisurly went along. :wink7:

Just decided to go downstairs and do 1/2 a mile. Going back down laters after dinner to finish up my 1 mile for the day. I can feel a big difference in myself already-woohoo!

I feel a big difference in my energy levels so I think this is good-lol. I'm currently trying to work on my portion control and snacking. I wish I could give up my caffeine but that's just not a option right now...I know...baby steps.

what sort of hurt?
are you stretching before and after exercising?

if your pee is not clear, you need to drink non-caffeinated drinks.
the darker the yello, the more dehydrated you are.

are you having cramps in your legs?
then yes to potassium intake (bananas, potatoes)

sore muscles from the onset of exercise?
take a day off, or lighten the routine today.

2 1/2 miles today..1/2 mile yesterday. Cramps in my legs-taking ibuprofen after walking and eating bananas is helping. I weighted yesterday and I will weight again this coming Sunday. Hope I lose at least a pound.

Saturday - cut wood for 4 hours and then piled it up, hauled brush
Sunday - hauled wood home, ran 7 1/2 minutes, walked 23 minutes
Monday - Level 1 of the 30 day shred
Tuesday - ran 9 minutes, walked 23 minutes
Wednesday - walked for 30 minutes - I was really sore and just couldn't work up the effort to do the 30 day shred
Thursday - feeling good, taking the night off to go on a date with the hubby!!!!!

I went thru the obstacle blow up thingy at the jumpy place today with my niece a couple times but that's all I managed. Although I've been sore lately for other reason so at least those muscles have been worked. (my arms and leg muscles that is LOL)

Wii Fit Plus is going to give you the most variety, but if you are looking for something that doesn't feel like exercise, Just dance is a lot of fun. I have the Wii Fit plus and like the variety it offers but it is more of a starter thing--once you get in good shape you will need to push yourself harder than that program will generally push you. You can buy a riser for the step (I did this) and use weights to increase the workouts.

@cody, you know, if I was looking to gain weight via muscle mass, I would focus a lot more on strength training and a lot less on cardio. What you could do is try using weights when walking, or a weighted vest. Make sure you replenish the calories you burn too. I use a protein powder every day -- Beverly International's Ultimate Muscle Protein. I order it online--it's pricey but I only use a half scoop every day so it lasts a couple months. Since you need to gain weight you probably could use something else--I use this because it is very low sugar and yet it tastes good.

I'm a bit in awe of anyone who has to gain weight!! I would love to gain muscle but I want it to replace fat! =)

1/2 mile last night after DH went to bed..I didn't feel good yesterday..tummy issues. Did a 1/4 mile this morning. I will try to make it up this weekend since I was feeling so great in the mornings seeing the difference in my jeans. This morning not so much.

-90 secs running/3 minutes walking intervals

Monday, Jan. 23 - Level 1, Day 1 of 30 Day Shred

Tuesday, Jan. 24 - Week 3, Day 1 of Couch to 5K
-90 secs running and walking/3 minutes running/walking intervals (ran @ 4.5mph)

Wednesday, Jan. 25 - Level 1, Day 2 of 30 Day Shred

Thursday, Jan. 26 - Week 3, Day 2 of Couch to 5K - same as Tuesday but ran @ 5.0mph. Total distance of walking and running was 2.188 miles

Friday, Jan. 27 - Today I will do Level 1, Day 3 of 30DS

Saturday, Jan. 28 - I will repeat my Thursday workout at the same speed

Sunday will be my day of rest....maybe ;)

My boys are 4 and 6 and it is almost impossible to get a workout in uninterrupted unless my dh is home and I do mine at night almost exclusively now (after they are in their room for bed). When dh isn't home, inevitably I will be running to their room at least twice during my hour long workout.

I did the Bob Harper video again today. It is really tough. I'm not sure I even feel good. LOL. I still can't do a lot of it. I guess I'll have to see if it grows on me.

Saturday I walked around the Boyscout pinewood derby race track many times carrying my 40 pound baby.

Sunday I did nothing but complain about my sore, scratchy throat,
and yell -
which exaserbated my sore, scratchy throat :hectic:

Pretty sure today I am going to go spend money that I don't have
on a gym membership.
At least they have a few working treadmills
although I only need one :wink7:

Monday - week 3 of Couch to 5K
Tuesday - no workout - it was our anniversary so DH surprised me with a babysitter and a dinner out (love him)
Wednesday - started week 4 of Couch to 5K
Thursday - JM's 30 day shred - made it all the way through the pushups but still can't make it through the jumping jack/jump rope sequence without stopping and also can't do the side lunges with lateral raises all the way through with my weights but I can definitely tell that I'm improving!
Friday - week 4 of Couch to 5K
Saturday - girl's night out with friends!!!! going to try to squeeze JM in there somewhere during the day
Sunday - week 4 of Couch to 5K

Great job ladies! I feel so much better now that I'm exercising. A bonus is that I'm starting to look better too ;)

Good job!! The results are going to show--just stay dilligent! I had trouble the first week or two I did my JM video (No More Trouble Zones) but the more I did it, the easier things got. I have just started using heavier weights (still can't make it through the whole thing, but I'm close!)

I was sick last week so I didn't walk any until Sat. We also had McD's Sat and then Super Bowl food last night so that didn't help matters much. But I will get back on track. My jeans are feeling good so I'm not too depressed about it I just wanted to get to 10 lbs lost.

Friday, Feb. 10 - Week 1, Day 6 of 30DS (oops, fell asleep on the couch while DH was reading the kids a bed-time story so I didn't workout)
Saturday, Feb. 11 - Week 5, Day 2 of C25K (Ran 3/4 of a mile at 5.0mph and 5.5mph with a 1/2 mile walk in between. Total distance was 3 miles)
Sunday, Feb. 12 - Week 1, Day 7 of 30DS (again, fell asleep at 9:00 so no workout. I've been so tired lately)

Having two birthday celebrations this weekend for my DD who is turning 5. So my eating might not be the healthiest but at least I am learning portion control. Have a great weekend and keep it up. You ladies are doing wonderful.

I'm on myfitnesspal to track my calorie intake and keep me accountable to myself. I also keep track of my exercising and how many calories I've burned. It's been helping me and I've lost 7 pounds since joining 4 weeks ago. Counting calories, portion control and exercising is what works best for me and I'm not on a strict 1200 calorie diet. My daily intake is around 1500.

On a bad note, I woke up with a sore throat and sick taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of. I'm just not feeling good. Hopefully this won't stick around for long b/c I'm really enjoying my running. Everyone is doing great!

I haven't worked out at all this week. I've been battling a head cold and I still feel awful. But once I'm feeling better, I'm jumping back on the bandwagon. I'm worried how much being sick has pushed me back on my running schedule. Oh well, life happens. Great job ladies!

Aunt Flo arrives by morning. 60 minutes Wii running yesterday. Excessive quantities of cookie dough followed by 30 minutes running today. Just not motivated! Tired!!
