In the rule and regulation section it is specied that it is prohibited to post any links to other web-sites.

Today I got two PMs regarding a Mail in Rebate I posted about, both people wanted to know if I have extras of the form for trade. I told them that I had to trade for them myself and them proceeded to give them name/url of that trading site.

My question, was this sharing of trading info via PM, a voilation of the law as specifed in the Useragremment?

Just want to make sure I am not breaking any rules as this was certianly not my intention.

I have not read all of the User Agreement, but I would think that as long as it's in pm's, that it's ok.

Uh...yeah...I might need some clarification as well, I have already posted links regarding planting sod, and growing poinsettias. I thought it was talking about referral links...that those should be in the 'paid' portion of the website.

Let Heidi and I work through that one - I think the sod links are probably ok.

So you can't post links to a freebie? Like an Olay sample or a Dove sample?

Okay, now "I'm confused" lol! Do you mean no links to referral type sites where the poster gets credit/money for a certain number of hits? Or do you mean a link to a freebie from Dove that is done as a public service announcement type of thing?

ok let me try and clarify...LOL

links that make you money go here: http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=61

links that are just for the benifit of the site like freebies etc can be posted on the site. If your running your own freebie site...see link above. But if you posting a link to walmart.com's freebies etc thats fine.

Ok, another question....

Can we post links to our trading sites? The sites where we list our coupons?

If, not I need to take the link out of my siggy...

I am sorry that I am so confused by this.

For links to your own clipping service, that goes in the business section for entreprenuers and has a nominal fee for service per annum. We'll get all the kinks worked out for folks. So yes, you would need to take it out of your signature line. Thanks for asking!

It is not a service.... Just a personal site, where I list all my coupons haves and my wishlist... I never have more than 3 copies of the Sunday coupons and do not sale any... Is that the same thing?? I am sorry to ask so many questions, I just want to make sure I am abiding by all the rules and understand everything correctly.

I'm a little concerned about all the rules and regulations and fees and fines. I really want your site to succeed, but I think it needs to be a little more couponer-friendly. I think anyone's first glance here may be a turn-off. I finally gave up on reading all the terms; I got a headache. And I think people should be able to enclose a link to their own personal site without incurring a fee. And what's with the $500 fine? I realize everyone's skittish right now (after recent events), but let's take a positive attitude and start fresh here with a good, helpful attitude. I'm getting sort of a negative vibe after reading the TOS. Don't get me wrong, I am referring people to this site. But in order for them to stick around I think things need to loosen up a bit. I don't want to get off on the wrong foot here so I hope my criticism is seen as "constructive". I hope to be aroud here a long time and I wish only the best for HCW. :)

Hi Kai! Glad to have you hear first and foremost. I know the TOS is long and looks harsh. But I want to once again point out that most of the major sites have very similar TOS. Were not trying to pull one over, and hopefully non of those fees will ever have to be sought. What it really boils down to is that you play by the rules...we are a pretty lax board. Thats why it was created. But we have to look out for ourselves as owners too. We need to prevent any legal issues should they arrive. As former mods/admin of another site we saw first hand what that can do to a board.

We could reconsider the fee for a link to your own site...what would be a fair advertising fee for that?

I went to the links in Boogiemom's sig and there is no way I would mistake her have/wish lists for a for-profit site. However, if the rule is such that having a trading site off this url automatically makes it considered a business, then I believe the wording could be more clear. As I read the TOS, it is unclear if the intention is that all wish/have lists need to be on this url or they are considered a business. Just throwing in my 2c - and, if I get a vote, I vote that her links are within the TOS.

I agree, I like it when posters have sites like these b/c it brings the feeling of a community of real people and not just people trying to sell their coupons or turning down your trade b/c you have less than 20 of what their looking for.
